That was an absolutely cracking game which would not have been out of place in FL2 or maybe FL1. You are where you are because you are a very good team, but last night we matched you and took more of our chances than you. Well done to your travelling fans as well great support throughout. Now we're off to see how far up the table we can get between now and the end of the season. You and York at the last game should be a bit lively.

Normally, the three blocks on the right hand side of the North Stand are reserved for away supporters The Club sell tickets for the furthest block first, and then as demand requires, other blocks are sold. In reality all three blocks are open and away fans sit where they want Gateshead's 12 travelling bravehearts looked a bit lost in there. Safe journey those of you that are travelling. Ticket stats reckon you have sold 122 seats so far, and it will be around a 7k gate. |

I watched the game on DAZN, so I had to be content with the camera following the ball rather than seeing the whole game, but there you go, better than nothing. Firstly, well done for taking all 3 points out of that one, I honestly thought that both teams were happy to settle for a point until our keeper gifted you your second. We were totally lacking any steel in the middle, and as a result, it was one way traffic in the second half, nevertheless, I didn't think you looked like scoring until you did. There's been a bit of humour about the team travelling a lot, but we did look leggy last night, especially Parillon, who was blowing out of his arse after an hour. Against York he scared the shit out of them. Pointless whinging though, as you are now top and we have to chase Halifax. See you at Roots Hall, where it will be an interesting return. I'm back off to our board now , where the Maher out brigade are gaining a head of steam. |

Gus Scott-Morriss is carrying a hip injury, and has been for a while now. Though the chances of him ever scoring 17 in a season again are v slim. Andrew Dallas has allegedly got a class 1 ACL, and of course we wouldn't have used that to persuade the Board to cough up for a move for Harry Cardwell would we?
Anyway, we will turn up and give you a game, supported by a largish chunk of traveling Shrimpers. Hopefully we won't have any of the silliness that we got at the vegetables last Saturday. Savage certainly knows how to wing up the opposition. |

Possibly, last season, Scott-Morriss was the talisman for the side, but not this season. New additions to the side have made us more rounded, and the signing of Andrew Dallas has added the much needed finishing skills. |

I have absolutely no idea what Southend Utd will turn up on Saturday, hopefully the one with the determination of our last visit to Spotland. Highly unlikely that Kendall will play as he hasn't trained at all this week, so it could well be Josh Walker that partners Dallas. As you say, looking forward to a very tight game with no idea what the final score will be. Bloody ludicrous ko time (thank you DAZN) and whilst you're looking chilly with rain, the temperature here at the moment is 24c with bright sun. 'They were lucky to get into the play offs, fortunate to draw at Gateshead.'
An interesting assessment of our performances towards the end of this season. Our form has been such that we gathered sufficient points and consistency to grab 7th place before the Gateshead game. As for that game itself, we were the dominant team and had we taken our chances we would have been easy winners. The proof of that is in the Gateshead Forum's review of the game. We are facing you on Thursday on merit, and looking forward to it, with around 1100 Shrimpers in the stand backing the team. You may well win, but you're going to need to be very good to do so. There's another 4 days left yet including match day for your folk to buy. By the looks of things we will bring around 1100+, maybe more, so it's going to be noisy. It's our manager's testimonial match on the Friday so we're due football overload I reckon. I seriously don't have a clue who is going to edge this. You finished higher, but we've found our form at just the right time. It may come down to who copes with the long break between games better. |

Certainly a long old haul, but, whatever the result Southend are not an away following that looks for trouble, in fact we earned plaudits from the Fog on the Tyne pub when the lads helped them clear up the beer garden after the horde drank them dry! I would imagine the Old Bill will be prepared for any daftness. |

If it helps at all, we'll be bringing anything from 500-800 by the looks of things and we haven't been invited to a party in ages. Would be more but it's an evening ko, and it's the best part of 250 miles each way to get to you. Undoubtedly, we will do our part on the atmosphere front. [Post edited 8 May 2025 18:36]
