Great result today. Bizarre first half with some absolutely comical passages of play from both sides. Ramming’s error and Fondop’s shocker was bad enough that we both deserve to be relegated. Much more assured in the second half, and Dan Moss just gets better and better.
One slight niggle - ‘Rochdale’s a shithole…’ followed by our reply of ‘We already know…’ It was mildly amusing when it was first heard ten years ago but now it’s just stupid. The town patently isn’t a shithole, especially not when compared with the likes of Oldham. Have a bit of local pride! [Post edited 19 Sep 20:33]

I would assume it means Jenkins isn’t registered in the 22-man squad, and they’ll make a decision whether to include him in January depending on if he’ll be fit before the end of the season.
The summer and January ‘transfer’ windows are actually ‘registration’ windows. You can sign a player from another club at any time of the year, but they can’t be registered to play for you until those windows open.
In short, he’s being paid but he isn’t registered to play for us until January at the earliest. |

John Coleman wasn’t even a bad manager. He had us skirting around the playoffs in League Two. Granted, his philosophy of snide play, diving and winking was as far away from a Rochdale philosophy as we could imagine, but results-wise he wasn’t bad at all. The only reason he was sacked is because Hill became available. |

I wouldn’t say he can’t get a game. He’s been injured for an entire season and has likely been loaned out to gain match fitness. |

I think today showed the difference a quality keeper makes. Gillingham’s Wright was excellent. As well as pulling off a few great saves he commanded his area in a way Ramming could only dream of. The first half in particular we didn’t deserve to be losing, and I even felt up until 3-0 we could’ve got something from the game. Ramming just can’t command his area at all, and one of the goals (either 2nd or 3rd) he should’ve claimed well before it got to him.
I wonder if the defence have a lack of faith in the man behind them. Swap the keepers today and that result would be very different. |

One minor bonus about cordoning off the first few rows of the away end is that you don’t get the bellends at the front refusing to give the ball back when they’re winning late on, only to hilariously throw it back on when play resumes. |

One I’m surprised to not see yet is Henderson’s 90th minute winner at Cheltenham. A sublime chip to send us top of the league (I think!).
So many of my favourite goals have been late winners. A peculiar one that stands out to me is Calvin Andrew’s 95th-minute header against Port Vale. It was late in the season so didn’t mean much, but Port Vale were a bloody horrible, anti-football, ‘team full of w@nkers’ type team, and it felt damn good to put one over on them. |

You missed a good one! A genuinely outstanding performance with complete control from start to finish. I’m not exaggerating when I say it could’ve been double figures if not for some outstanding saves from Shelvey. I couldn’t choose a MOM if I tried as everyone was excellent.
One thing that stands out to me as a big difference between this season and last is the substitutes. Last season there was a very real feeling that our substitutes made us worse, epitomised in that Southend capitulation where every sub was terrible. This season, so far, every substitute appearance we’ve seen has been fantastic and only added to our performance. |

It depends what you really classify as a midfielder. McBride and Barlow are technically midfielders even though they play in the attacking-midfield/10 position. Out of everyone we’ve signed this summer, arguably only Petit will be challenging East and Gilmour for those two central midfield roles, and he’s a defensive-midfielder, something we’ve been lacking for years.
Mancini will be competing with Barlow in the AM role. Pritchard by all accounts played at RWB for Oldham and can also play as RW. Humbles can potentially play CM but will likely be competing for the AM spot too.
So if we’re being picky that only leaves Gilmour, East, Petit and Edwards for those two central midfield positions. And Burger, though going off Jim’s comments I can see him being loaned out. |
