 | Forum Reply | Southampton On Verge Of Managerial Appointment at 13:46 5 Dec 2025
Just shows the fickle nature of football. Will Still was hammered by many as having no real experience and being a product of Football Manager. Despite having a good managerial record in France. Yet we win 4 games against uninspiring opposition and suddenly our U21 is the saviour and must get the job. He has no experience of running a club beyond picking a team players he's given. In any event we aren't looking for a genius. Just someone who can get a consistent tune out of a squad that is more than good enough to be top 4. The real test would be if we go up again. Can a manager keep us up when we don't have financial advantage. But for me no. TE doesn't get the job now. |

Another good result but a part of me wants us to go for it for the full 90 and hammer someone. Both Saturday and tonight we shipped oars at half time. Id have loved to absolutely stuff Leicester for obvious reasons. |

I am obviously very happy with the win. But... Id have expected this squad to be top 6 with no manager. We have a clear advantage over most of this league. TE has done a good job steadying the ship but we aren't over performing. We beat 3 pretty average opponents. Had he lost one or two, he would be seen as the cheap option etc etc. Three games later hes a genius? Being the manager requires a lot more than a few good results when the old manager leaves. Hes done ok but get someone with experience. |

I think I'll reserve judgement til we see how it shakes out. The fact we haven't appointed anyone yet does not clearly mean we have no leadership etc etc. It might mean they are taking extra care in getting the right fit having learned from previous errors. Maybe the person they want is currently employed or there are complex negotiations going on . Equally as likely scenarios as any other theories. I want them to take their time, do their due diligence and get it right. TE winning 2 games means they were bought a little time. I'm not convinced they will get it right but id still rather they didn't rush it. I also don't think TE is qualified for the job. |
 | Forum Reply | Are these International Breaks at 12:39 14 Nov 2025
These days I still love the actual tournament and the country gets behind the team we've been pretty good which helps. I cant stand the endless qualifying which is usually a formality against various islands and Eastern European teams. I guess those game are for middle class families to attend but sport is boring without jeopardy. |
 | Forum Reply | If it is Eckert at 11:38 14 Nov 2025
The fact we would even consider Tonda is ridiculous. We are a big club in need of a steady hand to guide us back to where we should be. We have tried several left field managers and it hasn't worked. Now wr think that a coach of the junior side deserves a go at the main job because he oversaw 2 unconvincing wins over opposition we should be beating anyway?? And we're going to accept that? F me. Not only has he never done the job before, there is way more to being the main man than just picking a team each week and following tactics handed down from above. I'm sure hes a good guy with a good future but we are not in the position to be developing him in post. Get a proper experienced manager in and stop trying to be clever. What next? We getting Clive Woodward back?? |

The Bournemouth midfielder has been called up for Englands next matches. Apparently he was on our books from the age of 8 thru 12 and flew over from Guernsey every weekend to play matches. Then we decided to release him. I guess it's easy to miss a few gems at that age. |
 | Forum Reply | Dragan Is In Town at 12:08 11 Nov 2025
He's nowhere near qualified for the job. He's never been a manager for a start. There is more to it than picking the team and the tactics. Even on that score he's been in charge for 2 games against frankly dreadful opposition and we haven't looked convincing in either game. We need someone with at least some experience of the job he's applied for. I would say there is no chance of Martin, Ralph or Eckert getting the job thankfully. |

All we've learned is there are a few teams worse than us. We're not really any better than we were. We just played some really poor teams. |
 | Forum Reply | Top 3 Koeman signings at 14:06 7 Nov 2025
Oh Shane Long worked hard no doubt. He did also chase lost causes, get there first, then collapsed to win a free kick. I didnt find that great watch and expect more from a pl player. He also scored 28 league goals in 198 games so one every 7 games and was paid millions during his time here. It's about opinions but I just wasn't a fan of his style. I like forwards who have more ambition on the ball than just collapsing to get a free kick. |
 | Forum Reply | Top 3 Koeman signings at 08:53 7 Nov 2025
I couldn't stand Long. In fact he would probably fit right in now as he had a total inability to put the ball in the net. People remember "that" goal, and fair enough, but I remember the sheer number of one on ones, and the chances in the 6 yard box where he hit the keeper. One of the most infuriating players I've ever seen. The number of times he cost us getting a draw or a win because he could not finish simple chances. He was so bad he made Che Adams look clinical. |
 | Forum Reply | Still was the problem at 10:42 6 Nov 2025
Recruitment is key. Get right and you are brighton and Bournemouth for a few years. Get it wrong and you're, well....us. Watching last night changed my mind. I did think like nick, that we are a good squad badly managed but with great potential Now I think we aren't actually that good and the mentality is extremely weak. The panic when they scored tells you everything. |

I mean it seems like heresy seeing as everyone seems so happy, but I hope he can play. Hes 34 and where hes been is a lot slower game. He was good when he was here, but cm in the championship is extremely demanding. I cant help thinking its just a sop to distract the fans from focusing on their latest f up. |
 | Forum Reply | Senior Players Want Russell Martin Back at 10:20 3 Nov 2025
Alfie House of the echo says there is virtually no chance of this happening. Martin left under a cloud. The owners don't like him anymore and apparently the feeling is mutual. |
 | Forum Reply | Random theory at 20:35 2 Nov 2025
I cant believe for a minute that we would sack him, employ someone else for 13 games then re-hire him. That would be ridiculous. |
 | Forum Reply | Ok so seriously at 20:33 2 Nov 2025
Gary O Neill was my choice before Still rocked up. I think he'd be as good as anyone. Gerrard would be a big name but hes yet to prove he can manage lower level players like Lampard has. Make no mistake, for an ambitious manager its a very attractive job. Great chance to win games and get promoted. Let's hope they finally get an appointment right. |
 | Forum Reply | Ranking Saints Managers over the last 20 years at 12:50 29 Oct 2025
I don't know about exact timings but in order of teams I enjoyed watching the most I'd say Strachan, Koeman and Poch. As for the worst well plenty were forgettable. Even Jones wasn't here long enough to really annoy me. I hated the boring football played by Martin and I found Puel to be the least charismatic manager I've ever seen. |
