Are you saying they went all out to get Eckert the job, because they like him, he's young, a good friend and easy going, now he has the job, the effort has reduced???
😲.

In all seriousness, I was worried that would happen too. But let's see. Oxford really needs to be a win.

It's being coached and it works when the players are prepared to be all in and really run, really aggressive and work extremely hard. But when they aren't at it, when the opposition are more aggressive like Norwich and Millwall were, it doesn't work. When teams press really high, we can't get out, then again it doesn't work. Today with 10 men, Coventry just parked the bus, marked everyone up and we continued passing left and right in front of them because we don't have a target man to.aim for and the tactics are to find the perfect pass.

Very frustrating wasn't it. That was a big opportunity missed to make up some ground against 10 men at home. We reverted back to slow, ponderous passing which doesn't really serve a purpose. In the last two games, we have stopped being really aggressive, quick, clinical and decisive.

Well it will probably be obvious who these people are. They will be on a golden coach or one that has an executive look with blacked out windows. We will probably be able to tell who they are before getting on the coach too, as they will be sat having champagne at St Mary's wearing a sun hat and sun glasses. Or if there are a few of them with teeth missing and a blue umbrella, we need to stop them going somehow (legally ofcourse).

This is a very good point and part of my annoyance. How do we know that these tickets are going to Saints fans (money talks)? How.do we know there aren't any Pompey fans.buying these tickets? Do they need to be on the database?

The club need to tell us what is going on and be transparent.

Why Is There So Much Hate On Saints Social Media
at 11:41 16 Dec 2025

I agree that people shouldn't be going over the top at Tonda in particular at this time, after a great run of results. I haven't seen that but Tonda unfortunately has a similar problem to Still. His inexperience is at the back of people's minds, and I think people are expecting it all to go wrong, mainly because their faith in Sport Republic is zero.

After the second half performance against WBA and then Norwich, people just think honeymoon period over, Tonda has been found out by experienced championship managers and here we go again, more disappointment because that's all we have known in the last few years. The fanbase is still in a sensitive spot, and this club needs some success, namely promotion back to the PL and stay there. Fans are frustrated. We get close to the promotion places then lose, and because we are chasing, you can't afford to lose many. 4 points again now from 6th and all because the players lacked urgency (again!).

People need somewhere to vent their frustrations but it's true as you say that organisation is what they worry about, like the significant chants at the Preston game resulting in big changes afterwards. I would argue that the mood on social media can then lead to what happens inside the stadium at times, so it's not completely pointless. Sport Republic arn't popular, I can see why. They don't ever give free travel to away games like Stoke do. They only give interviews after a few wins. They do everything to gain money for themselves. They empty seats at away games for corporates. They don't care about the fans and people feel that. I watched the Strachan interview on early doors. What a great personality he was and how.we could do with someone like that to unite the fans.

I also agree that when the team is giving its all, get down to St Mary's and support the team, not leave early and stop sitting there in silence like some do. But again, the malaise is still there. This club needs to be promoted back to the PL and to start seeing why Sport Republic took took this.club over, other than just making money for themselves.

Hopefully we beat Coventry, who are top.of the league, which would go.some way to restoring the faith.

Because you have to fight your corner or people, corporations, your football club, bossess whoever, will take the.p!ss. Have you ever read Sir Alex Fergerson's autobiography? He didn't win 38 trophies without ever "frothing at the mouth". His aggression, determination, stop at nothing made him one of the best managers ever. Probably not good for the health, you're right, but winning 39 trophies must have been good for the mental health. And you can apply this to life. You can choose to be in with the sheep or out with the wolves showing their teeth. Who wants to be in with the sheep getting eaten and trampled on?

Like the corporates and sponsors taking our seats, accept it calmly if you like, but just wait until they take acceptance as fans don't care, so we will give more and more seats to those who pay the most. Why not get more money, none of the fans are frothing at the mouth. Perhaps our clib should show more respect to their supporters, but as I said if we put up with it, if you are in with the sheep, the lack.of respect gets worse.

And Saints social media? Just have a look at some of the Newcastle forums, and tell us how they feel about their player scoring an own goal to lose them the northern east derby.

And in your match report which was spot on by the way, you said the team was lacking in urgency. Absolutely spot on. Perhaps a bit more "frothing at the mouth" was needed instead of calmly losing the game? Good for the players health to take ot easy, but not good for ours.

And clients are offered tickets, who perhaps don't support that team? Hence an empty block at Norwich away. If you are a Celtic fan working for P and O, and are given a ticket for Norwich - Saints, you wouldn't bother to get up at 5am to get there would you.

As I said in another thread, and nobody seems bothered, fans should be furious about what is going on. How many non Saints fans will be in the away end for the derby, in place of loyal Saints fans desperate for a ticket?

Basically if you work for money of the sponsors, and perhaps mighy support another team you will often be given tickets. They don't bother turning up for games like Saints Norwich. But no doubt they will fancy enjoying the derby as a.neutral.

Anyone angry or don't care? Should an article be written about this Nick? It's not right that random fans get a ticket just because they work for one of the sponsors and most of the time don't even bother to turn up.

I am surprised that people arn't more angry about this. The empty seats are because these sponsors and their staff probably arn't even Saints fans. They don't fancy a long trip to Norwich but the club don't care because they have their big deal with the sponsors. Yet, they will probably fancy experiencing the derby get for the Saints Pompey derby ahead of loyal fans desperate to be there and certain fans with tickets won't even be Saints fans, they could even be Pompey fans working for P and O or whoever we are giving tickets to. But nobody seems to care, apart from me. Has anybody else emailed the club, contacted the Echo like I have? Or woman of us just arnt bothered if we are sat next to neutrals, who.have never watched Saints in their life. Or worse, they don't turn up in our big derby and there are blocks of empty seats like there has been at every away game.

What we don't want at Pompey is this. One section / one block of.empty seats (or more blocks as is.the case at Pompey) where I assume people have been given tickets but can't be bothered to turn up. Sponsors, supporters groups whoever they are, don't even bother turning up. This is an unfair system where loyal fans are missing out on tickets, only for these seats to remain empty. What is the point of less support and empty seats, when people want the tickets? This happened at Charlton too.

Playing Out From The Back
at 16:40 13 Dec 2025

Time will tell. Tonda has clearly done a brilliant job to turn things around, but there are question marks about how he overcomes days like Millwall and today because he had no answer. I worry we will return to nothingness in midtable and then go again next season with an inexperienced manager. I have to admit looking on with some admiration at their manager today, an experienced man who won titles in Belgium. I always think there is something to be said for experience and only time will tell, long term. I wouldn't be surprised if Tonda gets found out. Let's see how we do against Coventry next week. It will be interesting to see how we react.

Playing Out From The Back
at 15:19 13 Dec 2025

Tonda has implemented a style, which has helped us move on from not having any style of play at all under Will Still which was a mess. The playing out from the back has worked because we were quick and powerful in forward runs and attack and the players have enjoyed knowing exactly what to do i.e. keep the ball and get it forward with speed.

However, at Millwall.and again today, teams have done their homework and realised that if they press really high up on our own six yard box in numbers, we can't get out. We just can't get up the pitch as there are so many opposition players in our own half, blocking any route up the pitch. So what can we do? Hit the ball long to a tiny Adam Armstrong, completely overpowered by 6ft 2 defenders?

When teams press high, we just lose the plot and don't have a plan B. But what would the plan B be? We can't hoof it up to a small striker. Today looked like a Russel Martin, play out from the back amd keep getting caught performance because the opposition are really high. So how do we counteract it?

I think we did get what we deserved. The goal was handball, but Norwich were all over us like wasps. Like the look of the Phillip Clement, who has turned Norwich around. He's an experienced manager,.who won a league in Belgium. Looks like he has turned them around. It's going to be play offs at best for us.

It's so obvious that they have blocked out a square of seats in 3 different places. I don't remember it being so obvious that seats are being reserved.in any other game, maybe one block, but not 3 different sections. Seems like they are giving more away than usual because ofcourse everyone wants to be at this game. The problem being is that sponsors might be giving tickets to people who just fancy seeing the atmosphere or neutrals who fancy seeing the goings on, and arn't the passionate Saints fans who should be getting the tickets instead.

What was it that pulled you in to being a Saints fan through and through? At what point or moment did you think that Saints are your team? Was it one particular game, The Dell or just happened?

My dad is a Saints fan, my grandad was a Saints fan. My dad married my mum who has brothers who are big Saints fans. She married my Dad who is a massive Saints fan, so.my mum by default goes to all the games. I was born in Winchester, but have always lived in and around the area. All of those above took me, my cousins and my siblings to the Dell from about 6 years old. I was in the mini bus with my Dad, Grandad, uncles to various away games from a young age - absolutely loved it and never looked back. It was like a group of us in the mini bus, all Saints through and through, it was brilliant being part of that as a kid on a Saturday. We were Saints together and I was a part of it as a kid. Watching them sing, drink some cans, celebrate the Saints, all lads together it was brilliant. My current family are all Saints fans ofcourse, I wouldn't have it any other way. It's in the blood. I don't know anyone else in the family who supports another team. My very first game was Norwich City at the Dell, watching from the terraced Milton Road end. Just loved it and couldnt wait to go to games.

I am just trying to work out who is getting these "reserved" tickets and if it's fair. It looks like 400 to 500 tickets kept back. If all these people are loyal fans who have been to many away games this season fair enough. But I don't suspect that is the case. There was an empty block at Charlton, and they said it was sold out. I knew people who wanted to go, but couldn't because it was sold out, yet there was an empty block. The Pompey game is a huge game that so many people are desperate to go to, and they have reserved about 400 to 500 seats, but for who? Why should loyal fans have to wait until their particular number of away games, whilst 500 fans get tickets automatically, if that's the case. The Echo have told me they will try to contact the club for transparency.
