Yes but still designed for the job to last 10-20 years, whatever. :) Good for athletics. Full for the London Grand Prix 2024 and now profitable at last. Awful for football, and Spurs were lucky they didn't fight too hard for it. More trying to stop West Ham. |

This is true. The bottom tier (25k) was constructed as a permanent massive concrete structure and the top tier (55k) as a lighter-weight temporary structure which would be removed after the Olympics. If Seb Coe had a part in that type of design I imagine it was intended to make the stadium as difficult to convert for football as they could get away with. The threat of a football takeover would have been obvious to them. Once the politicians got involved after the Olympics all they could think of avoiding being saddled with a 'White Elephant, whatever the costs and drawbacks of converting it. |

Looked like Starc had a sore right knee to me. Despite taking 6 didn’t look so good at the end. |

New manager getting to understand what he’s got plus lots of rotation, not surprising that results aren’t much. Think we will be OK when things settle down, hopefully. If nothing else we have strength in depth which we didn’t have last year. Winning and losing spells are more or less random in the Championship for the likes of us imo. |

But having some insights about how it gets there makes the game more interesting for annoying nerdy people. You know how the ball doesn't just find the net by itself. |

Of course some people will refuse to learn what insights Xg can provide and what it can't do. These people will usually come forward with snippets of info extracted from the bigger picture and think they know it all. |

Xgf created minus Xga conceded. It is of course a proxi for performance suggesting that Oxford's league position is worse now than it will be. But very early days. |

That may well be so, I guess many predictions would have had Oxford as relegation fodder. However in these early and perhaps misleading stages of the season Oxford are just above us 12 to 14 on the Opta expected points table so far. |

Matter of opinion. They were two places below us last season and my guess is that they won’t be a long way behind us again. |

Aspiration's good but all 24 teams and their supporters have aspirations. We are all fighting each other trying to climb higher up the greasy pole at the others expense. Extra aspiration doesn't get us anywhere. What we need is a superb manager and coaches who for whatever reason want to work for a club with a limited budget, some way of tempting better players to QPR for ordinary money and a lot of luck. Now if you can come up with the answers to these things you would find us all ears and I promise we would all heap praise upon you. [Post edited 2 Oct 15:10]

Opta have it 0.77 to 0.40 but they somehow missed two shots on target by Frey that the goalkeeper had to save. The BBC have it 0.8 to 0.37 but us with only one shot on target which is also wrong. Perhaps it was a boring match compared with recent home games. But I didn't see those and last night I thought we played OK. Normal QPR imo. Oxford just good at defending on the night and us not quite with enough to break through. At Bristol City presumably they'll attack us more and we'll have less of the ball but better scoring chances. That's the championship, win or lose like a toss of a coin. |

Yes, people see a league position, make wrong assumptions about how bad a side are and get disappointed by the result. Oxford defended well. They have some good defenders. They were better than Sheff Utd but lost 1-0. The rest of their recent results are probably as good as ours, as far as we can tell at this early stage. |

Consistency certainly isn’t a thing in the Championship. With three quarters of the teams much of a muchness results are very random. No reason to think we would turn over Oxford or lose to Bristol City. Think the team is in quite a good place so there’s hope. Expectation is a schoolboy error. |

Credit to the Oxford defence. They didn't make a mistake and we just didn't have the quality or brains on the day to break through. Championship games are one offs and we are just as likely to go and win at Bristol on Saturday. |

He has ability but I wouldn’t pick him. I expect more commitment than this player has to give. |

It either makes complete sense to concentrate all your efforts on the League or the majority of the Championship are fielding weak sides in the League Cup because of some strange shared affliction. I’ve always assumed it makes complete sense and all the Championship clubs carefully weigh up all the pros and cons, but maybe not? Keeping a whole squad motivated with some of them having little or no other opportunity must be part of it, injuries another factor. Recovery time probably another very important factor these days with sports science monitoring every aspect of physical performance. |

The BBC ratings are very very similar to North's ratings in his report. BBC higher for Esquerdina 6.42 to 5, otherwise a bit high for Chair, a bit low for Poku, but otherwise just about bang on. |

Washington used to drive me mad. Ran around like a headless chicken but rarely in a position to score. This guy is worse. Nothing to do with being the boo-boy or scapegoat. Strikers are there to score goals. Assists are nice, but how many of those does he have? |
