What if we played JCS and he broke down again?
Jimmy has been a trojan for us for a few years now. When he first joined us he did make some howlers but very, very rare these days.
Jimmy’s value is more than just as a player - almost everyone else is a bit quiet, we need him in the mix; he is the heart of QPR. Won us a hell of a lot more points than he has cost us
JCS a fine talent but his minutes need managing and we can’t judge that from our armchairs |

Definitely deserves credit, especially when player left back when he is meant to be a right back!
Also some credit to the rest of the defence. Last season we were a bit of a mess at the back, but probably coming in to a much more assured back line must have helped. |

No one should enjoy a "pile on" on Alfie. He is pretty well universally popular. He is a player we would all love to succeed. And I absolutely got what Jimmy said about him at the forum. Most of us acknowledge he has great energy. And I give him great credit today for despite not being on the pitch long, he got himself into two excellent positions (arguably more than Burrell did who was on for much longer).
But I read a post in the match thread along the lines of "the goals will come for Alfie". Others have suggested similar here. But what is that based on? He has now played 70 senior games and has three goals. Tbf a lot of those were as sub, but a lot were also at an easier level than the Championship.
That means when he plays, there is just over a 4% chance that he will score. If he plays a lot up front, just leaving aside what a nice lad he is, how hard he tries etc etc, is that really going to help you into the play offs?
Maybe it was just bad luck (again), maybe he does just need one goal and it will click. Honestly, I would be delighted to have this post shoved in my face.
Final point: it's definitely a sign of progress how much more supportive the QPR fanbase is of struggling players than when I was a teenager. Times changing for the better. But surely on a message board you can debate a player's performance, as long as it's respectful - and that's all that's going on here as far as I can see... |

Yes, a very fair summary and much how I saw it.
In fairness to Stephan, he alluded in his post-match interview to having got some things wrong. Perhaps they were the calls you mention. I like managers who admit occasional failings rather than pretending they are omnipotent in the Fergie/ Mourinho style.
For me the striker situation remains the worry: looking at that bench he had no centre forward options that would get him a goal. Burrell had an off-day, albeit in very difficult circumstances that left him isolated. Even playing so much better second half, having only 10 men, we couldn't draw him into the game. We had to call on a striker who shows great endeavour but just doesn't score. We have 3 other strikers at the club who are all - for slightly ambiguous reasons - unavailable. We must be able to draw on some of those options after the international break. We showed today we have the wingers in Poku, Smyth and Saito (all three excellent) but if you have 30 shots in a game you need to be scoring more goals.
Still, as you also highlight, a lot of positives today. The Smyth goal almost on a par with the Morgan blaster last season or the Dunne screamer the season before (both against Brum). The joy just tempered a tad because we should never have been in that position. |

Very balanced. He feels and sounds like the QPR manager now whereas last season he gave off slight vibes of "is this guy just passing through?". He speaks with real authority now. |

Not knocking the 2nd half comeback at all, it was great. But a few were wondering how we didn't win that game (and Bolton come to that). 30 shots and only 2 XG prob explains it, and highlights something we need to work on if we are to turn some of these draws into wins... |

Great second half comeback, a barnstorming finish like of old.
If only we had a cutting edge.
A decent striker scores that Alfie header.
But great desire, great comeback.
Paul Smyth - under appreciated player.
Poku brilliant, Saito did well too. |

I know it’s difficult with 10 men but Burrell completely isolated and barely got a touch. Scarlett possibly has something but not tough enough or confident enough yet. Get a bruiser on like Smyth who might at least win free kicks. Albeit we would then need to learn how to beat the first man or not give away a free foul at set plays. |

Zero right to feel sorry for themselves. Other than Poku we have looked League 1. No one stepping up and taking any responsibility. It’s all very well being a leader when it’s going well, where are our leaders now?
Looking at that bench, no Kolli or the Coventry ghost, just don’t see any goals on it |
