I don't care at all. But I'm more on the side of people who want to go to see QPR than those who don't, be they virgins or not. Especially on a thread specifically about ticket onsale dates for this game. Reckon this messageboard could do with a few more virgins from X who are excited about watching QPR play top six games away in London on a Friday night tbh.
Nobody has to go. Yes, the stadium is a dump - I go past it most days. They all hate it, but they have sold 60k season tickets nonetheless, so they turn up all the same. I wouldn't go every week if this was awaiting us in OOC, but we haven't played them in the league in 12 years, haven't won in the league away in 33 years. So, I'm glad I got tickets. But if people don't fancy going, fine. It's on the telly. You can get a beer straight from the fridge. |

Yeah. Lots of options, and loads of places to drink/eat/dance your cares away within a hop and a skip.
It's London Zone 2/3: served by two tube lines, DLR, one Overground, Elizabeth Line, Greater Anglia mainline, and High Speed 1. The 25 bus runs from Holborn direct and you can even get the Stansted coach line! There are two, arguably three if you count Maryland, four if fancy Pudding Lane train stations within an easy walk.
It's not Blackburn, Lincoln or Burnley. It's not even Charlton! |

First league derby away at one of QPR's great historic London rivals in exactly 12 years. 2nd v 6th, and a chance to briefly reverse those positions, no matter how unlikely - but not impossible. Three weeks since our last match.
Appears to be a mouthwatering, raucous Friday night between two of the division's great footballing teams under the lights (no matter how far away the pitch is). There are many away regulars under 30 who've never seen us play in the league at West Ham. And there are 1000s who've never seen us win away at West Ham, bearing in mind that last happened in 1993.
And yet, we have thread here with people proclaiming they won't go because there's a bit of a queue to get into the station after and the bars are slow.
Appreciate people have to work, have life commitments, travel issues, cash flow restrictions etc, all valid reasons, but a thread of some exclaiming they won't go because they choose not to is a bit tin pot. If you don't wanna go, fine. Nobody thinks it's impressive that you didn't enjoy the last one, do they? Maybe they do. Looks a bit Fulham to me. The young bloods on X are laughing at it, never mind the Irons should they chance upon this thread. |

Preston play(ed) with a three in midfield, so Vale was man for that as he can easily switch from an 8 when we're without the ball to a 10 when we have the ball.
Neither Kamara nor Varane can really do that, nor have they played together so we looked really disjointed. Varane looks very far off it to me, for whatever reason. Just not at the intensity of the team we've seen this season.
Cirkin and also to a lesser degree Mbengue were tucking into the middle until Cirkin was sent off - not Adamson's fault, nor really Scarlett as they no experience of it but they were both playing as trad left wing/left back combo in that last 30 mins of 1st half and just left masses of space in the channel. The diamond in 2nd half sorted all that out, along with Saito having much better control and know-how.
Agree that Saito should've/would've started in place of Vale had he been fit to do 90 (but maybe should have done first hour-70?) |

Have you got a link? I'd like to see that because here it seems fairly clear the Preston player nicks the ball first and Cirkin is just late and takes the man. Am I mad?? Maybe. I do have an eye test booked on Tuesday.
But the follow-through *is* reckless and there's no way this gets overturned. Not sure how the comparison with sliding in on goal is relevant, as the ball didn't go where Cirkin intended it to (it goes back towards our end), so he probably wouldn't have scored, and the follow-through which crunches their player would have been given as a foul. Maybe not in all games at all levels, but Champ and PL almost definitley. |

Mate, look at the clip I posted above. The PNE player didn't arrive anywhere late, Cirkin launches into him.There's no foul by the PNE player, that's a mad thing to say. Cirkin ends up on top of him.
Again, I will buy everyone a pint on this thread if an appeal is successful. But not in Oslo, as it's liquid gold there. Sorry about that. |

Does Cirkin even touch the the ball? I think the PNE player does, but Cirkin does connect with the PNE player's two legs, including standing leg.
Totally understand why you make that kind of tackle early in the game, to set a tone, but miss it and this can happen.
Not sure how this could possibly be appealed. [Post edited 20 Sep 10:49]

It's funny, I see a bloke lunging for the ball, shin high, out of control and connecting with the opponent's standing leg. I'm not saying I'm right, but it's odd so many people are seeing the same incident differently. At the time, I thought it looked a 50/50 tackle but the replays make it look more of a red to me.
All I would say is if it had been a Preston player who fouled Cirkin in such a manner, leaving our handsome new signing crumpled on the floor, there would be no question it was red. He'd have left to a chorus of 'you dirty northern bastard" and we'd think it was laughable/pathetic they might appeal.
I think you take your medicine and save appeals for clearcut error. |

Totally get that. Understand it's a positive red line for the coaching staff. See why Lloyd passes muster too.
I'm not pining for Rayan Kolli. I'm not quite sure how good he is yet even, because we have quite small sample size.
I just feel this current situation is the worst possible outcome. If he's not going to be played, I wish we'd sold him or loaned or something. Because this leaves us surprisingly light in a key position.
I didn't think we needed a striker signing in July as I figured between Burrell, Kone and Kolli, with Lloyd and Bennie pushing them, we were well stocked. I was wrong.
Two months later, without any significant injures in that department, we only have Burrell and Lloyd, which looks to me very very light - considering how good our possession going forward play is now too. We have looked blunt in recent games.
My frustration is not about Kolli being ignored, but not being replaced really. |

Alfie Lloyd seems like a really nice lad, a great attitude, full of running, full of effort, I applauded him at every game he's been in the team, urged him on as he was running the ball in the corner by us at Blackburn. Really like him.
He is a forward, playing mostly as a CF, who has scored two goals in 29 Championship games for QPR. He has zero assists. If he adds to either on Saturday I will cheer him on ecstatically. But writing "he's done everything asked of him" is not true. He needs to score and assist. That's a big part of his job.
In comparison with Kolli, who is younger, those stats are poor. Kone is also younger and has better stats too. I won't argue with the club about fitness nor attitude, because how would I know? I was literally talking about touch and finishing.
As I say, I like Alfie Lloyd very much as a character, an athlete, and don't want to hurt his (or your) feelings. But I think his touch is in my uneducated opinion not quite of the level, and not as good as the two forwards he's keeping out of the team. We were specifically talking about forwards on the books.
Disagree. That's absolutely fine. All he has to do is create chances, assist and score to change my mind. |

Dunno about that. Felt the door was closed last night. We'll see, but they'll redouble efforts for a Jan loan I reckon.Something's broken.
When Nourry said the last window Kolli could've made use of closed last week...Saudi closed on the 6th. Greece closed this week, but feels less likely. CN looked disappointed with that, so reckon a chunky Saudi (loan) fee was in the mix. |

Maybe the other possibility with Kolli is that:
...last year a senior member of staff told him publicly in the club's canteen that he'd never play for the club again (for some reason); in the summer he was told to find a new club, on loan or otherwise; he became upset with the club, didn't really focus in post-season subsequently; now he's watching Lloyd and Scarlett play ahead of him, just as he watched Bennie last season, believing none are as good as he is, that sense of injustice hardening alongside fans in away ends, Lloyd spooning another chance wide...
And here we are. That story has as much weight in my mind as the story we heard last night. Both could be true at once. Nobody asked about the canteen story, did they? It would help explain, as an origin tale. |

More than two things can be true at once, and seem to be with the Kolli story.
He *has* patently been managed very poorly by the club since arriving in the first team as a teenager. Whose fault is that? I cannot guess. But more than one person is tasked with that - so is it purely the club's fault?
He clearly, clearly had something the squad was missing when he scored his first two goals against Norwich in December 24. Nearly two years ago!
He has had nowhere near the chances to succeed or fail in the team that other strikers down the years have had at QPR, from Washington to Celar., despite having more promise and coming through the system.
It could be his attitude. It could be fitness. It might be just a grudge within the club towards him that has hardened. We don't know and it's not helpful to guess.
Whatever the reason, he should've gone on loan if there were genuine loans to go on this summer, just to prove the club wrong. But also, he's got a contract and can do as he pleases or feels is best.
If it were just Nourry and Stephan telling the tale last night, I'd be more sceptical. However, club captain and direct route to the changing room Dunne's body language gave it credibility. There's more they're not saying.
Having said that, it was nice Jimmy praised the attitudes of young players. But Alfie Lloyd's great attitude and vibe will not help him control a pass on the the edge of the box that spins out of play, again, one that Rayan Kolli kills dead and shoots with. Harsh on almost all of the players, as well as owner(s) and manager who, for all their myriad disgusting behaviours, still managed to get the club promoted to the Premier League. Chris Wright got us relegated twice at a cost of admin, near total collapse and a merger with Wimbledon in MK and more.
If you think Lumley and Tony Roberts are the two worst QPR goalies then I have Derek Richardson, Sieb Dykstra standing in a fairly long line who'd like to have a word.
It's just a list of average players, apart from Caesar who is the worst centre back I've seen at the top level. But that was a loan, right? And Sinclair Armstrong's goal at Leicester gave me more joy than any single post on LFW so I would welcome him back with rapturous love.
It feels odd kicking honest players who did their best but maybe weren't just good enough, or badly managed, or who one didn't fancy.
Joey Barton was a better midfielder, possibly (at least in his head), than any of these cited but there's no greater disgraceful presence in the QPR shirt than he, who sent shivers down all present more frequently, so I would have Mutch, Goss, Dozzell ahead of him in any team. |

Karl Ready won the supporters' Player of The Year award in 1997/98. He'd previously won young player of the year, I believe.
There was no uproar at the time.
He wasn't great. He wasn't even really very good. He backed off players, then fouled them. But he played for QPR in a good (and then bad) PL team and scored an absolute cracker in a win against Arsenal for which I am particularly grateful as I lived in Highbury then, so this is a very unfair reflection on a later career when the entire QPR team cratered.
To place him in a team of QPR duds at centre back ahead of Rehman, Howe, Abbott, Plummer, Morrow, Malcolm, Caesar, etc is a stretch. Damion Stewart and Michael Mancienne both played in poor QPR teams and looked adequate by comparison to who they partnered/replaced. Ready was replacing Darren Peacock. I'm not sure he was worse than Stewart, not really.

Not sure there's much to choose between West Ham and Southampton, tbh. If it wasn't for the deduction, Saints would be second by one goal difference.
They play each other next month, and we play both either side of that, so I guess we'll find out soon enough. |
