Whats it all about Alfie?
at 20:01 19 Sep 2026

I thought the defender just did enough to get in his way with the header and make it a little more difficult (albeit that it was still a very good chance, but not a horror miss).

Excellent save for the other chance. Hopefully he gets a break soon, gets the monkey off his back, then let's see how he goes.

In any event, he tries his heart out and causes problems for the oppo, and that's good enough for me for the time being whilst we see how he develops.

QPR and injuries
at 22:13 10 Sep 2026

This is what ChatGPT had to say about it when asked if QPR get.more player injuries than other football clubs -

I think there is enough evidence now to say that Queens Park Rangers F.C. have had a genuine recurring injury-availability problem, rather than it merely feeling that way as a QPR supporter. What is much harder to establish is that QPR definitively suffer more injuries than every other Championship club, because there isn't a good publicly available, standardised league-wide dataset measuring injury-days lost on the same basis.
What makes me think there is a QPR-specific issue is the persistence across different managers. Back in 2023, Gareth Ainsworth explicitly said Rangers had lost “too many key players, too many times over too many seasons” and that the club needed to investigate the recurring problem. Last season the problem was again significant enough that Julien Stéphan talked about having to balance training load and intensity because QPR simply couldn't afford another attacking injury. And in May he specifically identified keeping players available throughout the season as something QPR needed to improve.

What's striking is that it's happening again already in 2026/27. Chair and Richard Kone were injured against Middlesbrough five days ago; then against Charlton yesterday QPR lost Tariq Lamptey and Jimmy Dunne. West London Sport describes Rangers as having been “plagued by injuries in the past couple of seasons.”

There probably isn't one cause. I think it's a combination of squad construction, individual injury histories, workload and bad luck. QPR have repeatedly relied heavily upon players who already have substantial injury histories. Chair, for example, was restricted to only 15 appearances last season and has previously had back, knee and hamstring problems. Jake Clarke-Salter is an even more extreme example: the current injury record has him having missed a huge number of matches since his hip problem began in January 2025. Lamptey has also only recently returned from a long-term knee injury.

There is then a vicious-circle effect. Injuries reduce the number of available players → the remaining first-choice players have to play more → coaches have fewer opportunities to rotate → fatigue/load increases → injury risk can increase. Stéphan's comments about having to carefully balance training intensity are consistent with exactly that problem.
West London Sport
Interestingly, QPR clearly have tried to address it. They invested in sports science and medical provision, and in 2021/22 used the Zone7 injury-risk system. Zone7's own case study reported a 33% reduction in injuries per game and a 35% reduction in injury-days lost per game compared with the previous season. So this isn't simply a club that has ignored sports science.
Zone7
That makes me reluctant to say “QPR's medical department is poor.” We simply don't have the evidence for that. Some of the injuries are plainly unavoidable — Burrell's injury last season, for example, was a contact injury caused by landing awkwardly rather than a muscle-load problem.

But I do think there's a more interesting question behind yours: does QPR's recruitment strategy leave them with an unusually injury-prone squad? My suspicion is that this may explain more of it than the medical department does.

Just bring back "Queens Park Rangers" by The Loftus Roadrunners from the 1980s 😁

I'd definitely be looking at some form of breach of contract claim against the club unless the kit is changed (which could yet happen)

Could well be similar 'issues' to those we had with Richards (I'm guessing)?

Agreed that we need to keep Stokes for as long as we can. Key and McCullum though, I'd rather they were out.

With regards to fearing for Ben after cricket, he'll be fine as long as he finds something to challenge him and keep him achieving. Loves his golf and is apparently very good, so could go down that road

This is awful from England.

I never want to see Jamie Smith in an England shirt again. He was absolutely woeful in Australia, and that drop today was just WOW. Unbelievable.

We really need McCullum and Key out IMHO. They were good for the 'recovery' when the team were down in the dumps but still had some senior lads who could turn it around. We need something more concrete now than those 2 jokers leading the ship.

No that's not correct. We did indeed get relegated the day we won 3-0 at home to West Ham in '96

Football definitely not worth bothering with too often these days. Corrupt in the extreme. No longer the great game it once was.

So, the EPL now has a guaranteed 5 spots for the Champions Leagie next season, which could even rise to 6 spots. What an absolute farce. Football has lost its mind for £££££.

I'd say it's gonna be the same old shite this year, with 2 of the 3 relegated PL teams going straight back up (Ipswich in 2nd and Southampton via the play offs).

Modern football eh 🙄

He'll be getting fast tracked back down again at this rate. He's been shocking. 2 out of 10. Poor in the extreme.
