We do need to win this one. To date, away from home this season, we have let the home sides dictate and it has cost us. We were bullied at Lincoln, hardly turned up against Watford, were poor at Brum and ridiculously poor finishing and defending cost us massively at Wrexham. We need to turn the corner and start winning away. Everyone is going on about how great Swansea are on social media, just because they are top at the moment. We made them look distinctly mediocre, a little over a month ago, but that was at home. We cannot rely solely on our home form, so need to start picking up wins away from home. We are due a win - especially after that handball goal from them to beat us last season. Perhaps we will play with a little more width tonight ? My proposed team: Peretz Bree, Schlot, Wood, Manning Leo, JWP, Downes, Fellows Azaz Larin Mubama, Matsuki, Jander, Dobbin and Stephens to all come on in the 2nd half and maintain squad fitness and rotation for the Bolton game |

That Downs assist was not really an assist - it was him trying to score from virtually on the line, but he miss-kicked it, it went to Stephens and he netted from a tight angle, to give us a last gasp win v Wrexham. It is a bit like JWP's goal at Wrexham. Edozie got in the way of his first goal-bound shot, but fortunately it came back to him and he scored. BBC gave the assist to Edozie !! |

Guido Carillo - who is currently a 'striker' for Estudiantes Big money flop and the manager that signed him left in time for us to appoint Mark Hughes to keep us up (and witness Swansea capitulate). or Damion Downs - who has attempted to play striker for us Still can't believe he is so bad. Derby away last season was the classic for me. Came on and played as striker as Stewart was injured. Couldn't control it, pass it, lay it off, or anything, let alone press or make a run. Players were deliberately not passing to him as they realised it would be the end of the move. All the Saints fans cheered when he eventually managed a completed pass. It was so embarrassing. At least Ali Dia had some enthusiasm and actually looked like he wanted to be involved when he came on. |

It was a virtual sell out Arsenal were given 3000 tickets Like at many clubs, those that miss out on the official tickets seek them elsewhere - Saints at Colchester for example, this season If you go in the home end, don't wear the shirt or act like a d1ck I remember about 4 seasons back, a whole family of 5 or 6 Arsenal fans including kids, came in late to the game in the Saints Family Section. They soon got their coats off and Shirts out, at which point the complaints started and Stewards moved in. They obviously objected and said it was for their kids, but were escorted out. They either joined Saints as members, bought off touts, or some ST holders got them the tickets. I wonder if anything was ever done. Probably not. |

Imants Bleiidelis Signed to help Pahars settle in. Nicknamed '2 Hearts' for all the running he did. Managed just 3 league appearances in 3 years with us. A couple more in the cup, including coming on at 3-0 up away to Tranmere (lost 4-3) Somehow managed over 100 caps for Latvia. |

To be fair, they had a man sent off at 2-0 against Brighton and have already played Arsenal and Man City away. I would of course love it if they finished with less points than we had, but I doubt that will happen. |

Apparently Rambo recently became a father, so from a family perspective, I doubt they are ready for uprooting again, having just returned from Newcastle. He is arguably our best 'Keeper, despite Tonda selecting his first and second choices - perhaps because a move for Rambo was in the pipeline but never finalised ? He is too good to fester in our U21's, so he could be involved in the first team again if we continue to leak goals, or perhaps someone will offer to pay some of his wages in January and he can go out on loan. |
 | Forum Reply | window shut :Ramsdale and Downes still here then and mystery injuries at 14:24 4 Sep 2026
Just for future reference..... :-) Flynn DOWNES is a midfielder and very much part of our current squad. Damion DOWNS is a 'striker' that we have loaned out to St Louis City. Up front we are relying on the fitness of Larin, at least until January. It was great the way we interchanged Larin and Stewart last season, but so far, Mubama is still getting to know his team mates and our style of play. I suppose we could also play Dobbin up top and maybe Princewill as well. We are stuck with Ramsdale. He will probably continue to be the U21 Keeper, once he returns from Paternity Leave, unless someone comes in for him from a country that still has their window open - but with a new born, I doubt he and his family will be up for a foreign move. He is a talent and definitely needs to be involved, even if it is to put him in the shop window for January. I saw somewhere in the last week or so of the window, that we were looking to sell Roerslev. Not sure if that was before or after Sugawara went out on loan, but either way, I'm not convinced he has the manager's backing and maybe Will Still will sign him in January !! |

It was 96 so 'only' 30 years ago !! We were there that night, stood on the side terrace. Gordon Watson doing a toilet flushing goal celebration I was designated driver. The 2 others had had a few beers, so slept all the way home. Not going on Saturday, as it is our cricket club touring weekend. |
