You make a good point re those other companies. Bayer also responsible for Alka Seltzer, which I surmise is a popular product with LFWers. [Post edited 2 Apr 9:41]

Hmm, well that’s one interpretation Clive, perhaps I can offer a slightly alternative one. I am sure you are right that investment banking is full of very ‘strong-willed’ individuals and Warburton is perhaps very much a product of that environment. Fundamentally, for all its flaws football is a ‘people’ business whereas investment banking is very much not. Perhaps why Warburton seems to fall out with people everywhere he worked. Not just at QPR, but also at Brentford, Forest, GR and after us West Ham. (Knowing how pro Warburton this board tends to be, I have toned down what I was originally going to post .) |

Middlesbrough was very bad and this somehow contrived to be worse. Both competing with Swansea for our most inept away performance. The sojourn in South Wales on Boxing Day still just shades it for me but this really ran it close. Can I also chuck in being searched twice by two stewards standing approx. 1 metre apart, WTF was that about? Hope you get your tooth sorted. [Post edited 31 Mar 8:29]

Didn’t know that. The FC at one point took out an injunction (successfully) against the CFC preventing them from calling themselves The Tons. The FC claimed to be the genuine inheritors of the club name and history. Obviously not the case now then! |

My sister going to be at this one. Complicated by there now being 2 Clapton teams but my paternal grandfather was a regular at the OSD between the world wars. We latterly found out from his diaries that our Dad too was a keen supporter in his youth despite not showing much interest in football in later life. The family lived in Forest Gate which is where the OSD is (and not Clapton, for the uninitiated.) |

Supposed to be flying from there tomorrow. But hey-ho, First World problems as they say. |

Used to see him regularly in SAR but haven’t seen him at games recently. Hope he’s OK. |

I mean the media narrative re. Newcastle has become beyond tedious but that is Boy’s Own stuff for ‘big’ Dan Burn. |

Not suggesting he’s already ‘on the beach’ but he came on to the pitch after the game in flip-flops! |

As Clive said in the match report, I doubt we’ll see him (start) again this season. It took him about 10 minutes to walk half way round the pitch. Concerning indeed. |

Absolutely. Spot. On. I thought that I might be having a stroke until I realised there was some **** with a megaphone. As if the junior Hari Krishna troop wasn’t horrendous enough already. Up there with the worst performances of the season. |

Don’t completely agree because he has earned lots of credit, but you have a point. Insisting on keep playing out from the back as we are doing, clearly is not working as we don’t have the players to carry it off. But this is clearly a managerial instruction. Time to resurrect the ‘Begovic’ Dunne out ball? |

Blank looks all around me on Saturday when the spot kick was given and I also saw nothing. Rarely disagree with Clive’s reporting but that is never a penalty for me. [Post edited 10 Mar 23:30]

And as I am sure I have mentioned before, reports from Orient are that he is a much-improved all round player since they last had him. |

Not too disappointed in the cold (warm) light of day. Expected us to lose this and am expecting a zero point week. However our inability to score against 10 men again is perhaps indicative of where this squad is light, even taking into account the current injuries. Still we should have got something from this one. Don’t get me started on the shithousey, especially of their keeper. |

Almost certainly. He was booed all second half for having the temerity to be elbowed in the face. |
