I was at the league game Día played he actually came inches from scoring and wasn’t half as bad as people made out. I think the story has grown massively in size over the years, and if it wasn’t for the George weah bit he’d be completely forgotten

Also we never actually signed him, he was a trialist who’d been training with the squad and was put in the match day line up because we had a massive injury crisis.

Carillo probably the worst, though not the worst player, that "honour" belongs to Lee Todd

Our Claus was one of mine.

You can also count
He’s our Cedric
Eyal Berkovich’s song
Woolston ferry

And a couple we tried that never caught annoyingly

Raspberry beret for Kyle walker peters
Dock of the bay generally about Saints
Electric avenue for the skates (we’re going to chase you through goldsmith avenue)
And one that was never going to take because of the song it was based on, another Saturday night by Sam Cooke (again just a general saints one)

I’m sure there’s more I’ve missed too

It gets trotted out almost every game by my lot, every verse too

Though to be fair it's a lot harder at away games as our inbetweeners lot are more interested in pantomime banter and stealing songs from liverpool

So you agree then Nick no real trouble happened in the cup and it was adequately policed?

Therefore given that a night game, the first in a very long time, which was probably the most high risk kind of game we can have, proved we don't need the bubble.

I also fail to see the relevance of goldsmith avenue being a single road, arguably that's easier to police than the route to St Mary's.

Frankly in 2026 there is no consistent argument in favour of the bubble, and there's certainly no conceivable need for the extreme measures that have been put in place for it.

We need to stop criminalising football fans for simply going to a game, i'd have thought this would be something you - with your background - would be hugely on the side of

Except that's not right Nick we have the Fan Advisory Board, surely they should've been the ones consulted or what's the point of their role?

I also don't believe there would've been major trouble, there was no major trouble in the league cup and i have no reason to believe there would've been for this.

Also it doesn't hold water given we're one of the very few games in the country that have a bubble now, so if it works to not have one for everyone else why does it change for us?

Given what we've since learned i'm cynically thinking the clubs knew how much money they could fleece from the fans for this game and it was a nice chance for them to do it.

I think what annoys me the most is the fans were apparently consulted, so either they were ok with this nonsense or they were completely ignored.

If it's the first then i'd like to know why the hell fans groups thought this was the right thing to do, and why they thought their opinion represented everyone.

If it's the second then what's the point of even having a consultation with the fans?

Like is said i'm not going next time if it's the same, i bought mine knowing it was a bubble but not being aware of the extreme circumstances we'd be put under.

The whole thing is a f*cking disgrace Nick, the fact is it's set up to scalp as much money out of fans as possible by forcing them to use facilities at the clubs.

Putting aside the completely over the top and draconian requirements expecting fans to turn up to the ground up to 4.5hours before kick off for a drive that takes around 40mins, forcing them to use the coaches but also charging for them, restricting food and drink on the coaches and effectively saying you have to buy everything from one or other of the clubs, is disgraceful.

I've pretty much decided that should they stay up and should it be a bubble again i'm not going to do it, because they've utterly ruined the enjoyment of the day out, and effectively criminalised normal fans despite no evidence that needed to happen.

I have actually contacted the Football Supporters Association about it and would advise others to do the same

You were lucky you missed out on the drink that we were given that was Guinness with a double shot of port in it.

It was incredible how cheap Doncaster was in general to be fair, don't think i paid over £30 for a round all day

5 Things About Doncaster

1. Some decent pubs in the center of Doncaster but was surprised how few of their fans were in them, seemed like every pub was full of saints

2. This team are going to be disastrous at Fratton, the mental weakness is visible to all and i genuinely thought Doncaster would nick it towards the end

3. Was surprised how cheap the trains were, my train up from london cost me less than the standard train back home to southampton does

4. Made me chuckle when i overheard from one of the home fans that loads of saints had gone into the club shop before the game and bought them out of billy sharp face masks

5. Wintz childlike excitement at getting to go to THAT pub from the video was hilarious, i think was more excited by that than the prospect of the game

Personally more concerned about the trains than the game, given how sh*t the rail network is i'm hoping they don't cancel trains because of the weather

Some of my family were those that fled under Chavez and Maduro and they're certainly happy Maduro has gone, but they're hardly celebrating right now as they don't know what comes next and they don't see it as a real change of leadership as the party is still in place.

Sadly it's not really a simple solution, or at least Trump hasn't made it one. Because if the legally elected opposition had been put in place instead it would've been considerably better.

But if the New York Times is to be believed that didn't happen because Trump didn't like that she accepted the Nobel peace prize

I've probably got a unique perspective because i actually have family in venezuala and a good friend - from southampton - that lives out there.

The venezualan people aren't celebrating, if you're basing that on videos you've seen on social media those videos are fake.

Most are incredibly cautious about what's happening, maduro (and Chavez) before him were dictators (chavez in all but name) and him being gone is a good thing.

But what's been done is that he's been removed and replaced by his vice president rather that the opposition who legitimately won the election.

Speaking to my family out there they're also incredibly concerned about what america plans to do next, the history of american interventions and replacement of governments in south america is historically disastrous for the people of those countries, and the idea of america running Venezuela could potentially lead to a civil war

The one thing i find really surprising from this thread is how many on here aren't sotonians.

I'd always, naively it seems, just assumed the majority were from Southampton, but it feels like i'm in the minority going by this
