Thank you very much for your help TVOS1907. It makes sense to me that his name was Edward because he is mentioned in newspaper articles during this period as E.Wood and he has been referred to on Wikipedia as F.Wood - see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ From past experience, I've noticed that Edward is the most likely name in these circumstances because if you were called Edward during this period, it's highly plausible you were also known as Fred. Once again, thanks very much for your amazing help. I really appreciate it! |

Hi everyone, I was wondering whether there is anybody out there who can help me. I am trying to find out the first name of a player who played for Rochdale during the 1919-20 season, the first season that football resumed after World War 1. He was a full back and he played the vast majority of matches that season when Rochdale were in the Central League. One of these matches was an FA Cup First Round Proper tie against Arsenal, which ended in a 4-2 defeat, on January 10th 1920. I would really appreciate if there is anyone out there who can help me. These days, information from this era is so easily accessible and everybody seems to know everything. Thank you for your help. happyguy |
