Disappointed at not being allowed further questions from the floor - I had one lined up about whether we are forced to play the Premiership loanees.
It seemed like they had battened down the hatches, somehow expecting a more feisty crowd. I think the platitudes being spouted rather subdued the mood.
The thing I took away was IW saying that we were on the next 3 year plan and that things would not happen overnight.
Not convinced.
The trouble is the get-out-of-jail card: the injuries.Until they return you can only go off your gut feeling. [Post edited 12 Sep 9:20]

I couldn't make it tonight but I have heard good things. As an IW doubter I will keep my gob shut for the time being. Let's hope a corner has been turned.
I am so pleased to see the attendance for a Tuesday night match, too. After all the grumbling that is heartening and should give our players an extra lift after the cack performances we have had to put up with lately.

If we have to ditch IW, I wonder if Hendo could be persuaded to cover until we get ourselves sorted. He knows the club better than anyone else I suspect.

Admirable and ambitious as it was to give an up and coming young manager the reins, unfortunately, this season was not the time.
The increase in the fanbase and the feelgood factor generated by last season was the thing to hold on to. It has virtually evapourated in the first two games. Today puts the tin lid on it.
We gave IW a 3 year contract didn't we? It is going to cost a fortune to ditch him. The Ogdens, quite rightly, said they were not going to chuck money at the club. But, look at what they had to spend on the pitch last season and now this.....
But it is important that we keep the feelgood factor and momentum going. I think waiting for our injured players to make a return and IW to find his feet is too much of a risk. |

Ah I did have a couple of year's hiatus of being interested in football - the 5-0 replay loss to Colchester having knocked the stuffing otu of me. Hope that's not an omen. |

Wow. I really don't recall ever seeing that shirt. How many outings did it have? Perhaps I just didn't go to any away games that season. |

As a complete aside to the new strip, I'm sure I read in one of my Dale books that we once played in a strip that had a diagonal stripe on the shirt. I can't remember one.
Can anyone confirm this and supply a pic if poss.

Can we wait that long for the players to get fit, though? Then what? They have to have time to bed themselves in to the style of play IW wants (Which is what, exactly)? Which might not work anyway - as proved by his change from last weeks game. And we might already be cut adrift by then.
So, until then, we will have to watch shape-shifting formations and square pegs in round holes until he stumbles upon a formation that might work? Very Eyre-esque.
I am very concerned by what looks like all our hard graft unravelling. Sorry, but to me, IW does appear to be out of his depth. [Post edited 22 Aug 22:04]

So, just to draw a line under this thread, the chap in question is Peter Green the cricketer. Apparently, he trialled for Dale but it didn't amount to anything.
My neighbour remembers the boshed window incident very well. |

Having recently moved and just getting to know the neighbours, was speaking to one last night who told me his dad played for Rochdale - Peter Green - in the 50s. He was also a cricketer.
Any of you archivists have any gen on this chap?
