I think my point was rather that for 90 minutes we did the same thing against a bottom of the league, already relegated Braintree through our goal until they scored their equaliser.
Plan “E” shouldn’t have really been neccesary.
Again, this isn’t me slating the manager per se, I just don’t think it would be disaster that some are making it out to be as long as the question is answered within the next 2 weeks. |

I feel like I'm definitely in the minority here, and I don't want it to come across as bashing Jim, but would it be all that bad?
The football hasn't been that great with him (promotion aside which is arguably all that matters), and will we be able to get away with some of the performances we put in last season and the style of football we played? I'd say on inspection it's a no.
My main concern, before anybody is signed or we can see the landscape of the league we'll start in, is that we never had a plan B in the league games against the likes of (no offence intended) Braintree, Morecambe etc, but we're sure going to need one against Rotherham and Port Vale.
Again, this isn't intended as a dig at BJ as I spent my entire 20s watching him as a player and now as a manager so understand his obvious and profound adoration for our club, but I just don't see it as the end of the world for us if he were to go. |

Seeing this thread after the past 12 days or so feels quite bizarre, however, every single point raised was valid.
We're in an ultra-reactive period of history full-stop, nevermind when it comes to something as passion-driven as football. That being said it took watching hours upon hours of drivel for me to finally believe it was time for a change.
Was I wrong and am I glad we didn't make a change? Yes, but we can't pretend like Jim is doing some sort of miracle work now we've finally hit some form. That might sound harsh given the position we're in but we have one of the best teams in the league that for the majority of the season has been under-performing largely due to the instructions they've been given.
This group now has the chance to create history and could be the spark to usher in a genuine new era at the football club. |

I haven't been this calendar year. I could've made it to every single game and don't get me wrong I miss the ritual, but it was getting to the point where we would actually win and I'd still be frustrated with the sub-standard "football" on show.
It's all out of a coaching manual, and not a very good one at that.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - a clean break was needed from top to bottom after the takeover. It didn't, and look where we are. The summer is another chance to rectify that before we're served up another season of dross.
Dire football I can deal with. Relegations I can deal with. Being treated with contempt by senior board members and fed what can only be described as "tiki-taka propaganda" by an inadequate football coach is something I won't deal with.
I've been standing in the Sandy for 21 years since I was 8, less time than a lot on here, but should both the manager and co-chair still be in their positions come August I won't be renewing my season ticket. |

I can't comprehend whether you're just actually as thick as mince and think you're blending in as a Dale fan or if you're just trying that hard to get a reaction.
You're only popping up when Oldham are mentioned so mark that down as a failure for starters, and rather than getting people wound up or "boiling piss" it's just slightly annoying for 0.001% of our days.
I'm actually more annoyed at myself for responding than any of your nonsense.
I'd personally try out an interesting hobby instead, or failing that, professional help. |

I know it was a lifeline that we needed to take with the Ogdens, and I'll be eternally grateful, but there should've been a completely clean break when the takeover went through, and not SG having his cake and eating it too by still being co-chair.
The goodwill of the money he fronted up has run out with me, and should nothing change about the running of the club I'm going to be voting with my feet. Enough is enough of half-arsed statements, condescending answers to valid questions at various forums and the obvious disdain for fans.
When a football club can't host football games it is not fit for purpose. When a chairman can't lead us in the right direction, they are too unfit for purpose. |

As a *younger* fan rather than *young*, emotionally it would be just as difficult for us to leave Spotland. I've personally been going for 20 years, so it's hard to imagine us playing somewhere else. It's home.
However, as points have already been raised in this thread about the amount of work we need to do to the pitch and the facilities, the impact/legacy that the Ogden family wants to leave on the town, the current transport links, and not currently having our own training facility, it's the perfect time to at least consider it.
Having been to places such as Doncaster & York, whilst fit for purpose, I feel like they are completely soulless and don't think I could enjoy rocking up to a ground like that 23 times a season. If we did move, we would have to get it right and bring the soul and tradition with us.
On a personal level, I'd be pretty peeved if we did end up moving to Kingsway having lived in Milnrow for 95% of my life only to move 18 months ago. |

Well, they obviously can, however this is one Rochdale moment from that season that I said will stick with me on a Rochdale forum.
There's no suggestion we deserved to stay up as the table implies, but it was one of a myriad of inexcusable and easily avoidable mistakes that cost us. |

Bazunu giving the ball away to Shodipo in the 92nd minute against Oxford is a moment that will always stick with me. Pretty sure he did exactly the same a couple of weeks later. That alone would've kept us up. |

I'm not sure if I was watching a different game, but I really don't think Braintree were much the better team. I think it was a good team who didn't turn up vs a poor team who didn't have the quality to capitalise.
I think we were absolutely dire for 90 minutes and would've been battered against any of the better sides in the league. HOWEVER, we would not have won that game last season and that is a massive step forward for me.
It's no comparison and with only a fraction of evidence, but both games against Chesterfield last season I wasn't impressed with how they played, quite underwhelming. They went on to win the league by 12 points and losing 4 of their last 5 once they'd wrapped it up, so should've won it by a bigger margin.
This is also no defence of the playing style as no matter what minute we take the lead we seem to try and shut up shop, but we're sitting at 1.91ppg. If we keep up like this, is it a terrible playing style or just an effective one? I know it doesn't seem it but we're sticking with the leading pack. We can't play well every week like the performances against Woking, Aldershot, Hartlepool. What we can do is grind out results like Saturday.
I believe that wins and points on the board will bring new fans as opposed to the brand of football on the pitch. It might wind us regulars up, but Tom, Dick & Harry who haven't been for 10 years see that Rochdale are 4th in the league and think it might be worth the £20 to pop down. |

The only semi-feasible explanation for the decision is that if people have to go into the club shop to purchase it before the game, it does give the club a chance to upsell on other memorabilia.
From a commercial standpoint, they might think it will help increase individual purchase value, which could outweigh single sales of TVOS.
From a logical standpoint, I think it's pretty ridiculous. |

I had a question put to me a couple of seasons ago by a mate about the stripes and how we seemingly just added them to our kits for no real reason.
We've had them periodically throughout history, including the centenary which I get, but there's no rationale as to why we have had them for 7 of the last 10 years. I grew up and have the nostalgia of the Carcraft/Keytech kits, hardly any of which had stripes and I think are the most attractive for fans of my era.
The stripes really limit the design and with the big black stripes the Crown Oil sponsor in red looks abysmal, so whilst it wasn't my first choice, I'm happy we've moved away from the same design season in, season out. |

You're right in us needing CB's and another striker, however all of last season we were essentially running on 2 midfielders in Gilmour and East which couldn't happen again for this season, especially with no Keohane.
We still probably need another right-back as well talking about Jimmy. |

Cambridge by far and large the best set of kits in the whole football pyramid.
Man & Bristol City's away kits closely follow any of them with Boston's home kit being the best in our league.

How does a change in league format take you from back-to-back titles to 4th bottom with the best academy arguably on the planet? It's almost like he implemented his own playing ideology over the two years and saw the results.
That is genuinely the biggest achievement of his career in professional grifting. |

Given how good he was during his loan spell with us them years back, I've got a bit of a warped interpretation of what I expected when he returned.
The relegation season was a stinker and I'd have thought we'd try to get him off the books then. The fact that we're in the National League and he still isn't a standout centre-half is a bit of a worry for me.
He played 30+ games in League One only 2 years ago, with Shrewsbury fans surprised they let him go at the time. His performances last season, whilst okay, we definitely shaky and for me, he didn't redeem himself from his nightmare League Two season.
His regular gesticulating to fans to get behind the team when we're 2-1 down to bottom of the league for instance, only to pass the ball between himself and his other centre-half for the next 3 minutes is something that he needs to cut out.
Thankfully, we might be in a position where we can take a chance and hope he comes through with solid performances unlike last season where we couldn't entertain passengers. |
