I'm afraid I'm with those having a bit of a downer on Fellows. He needs to take his cue from Leo, who knows his job is to make things happen and will always die trying. Fellows needs to back himself more, rather than look for the sideways or backward pass. It's the same with Edozie - not enough end product.
Tonda could yet unlock the undoubted potential. Once he finally realised that playing 3 centre backs was never going to work, he hasn't put a foot wrong. |

I don't wish to be churlish as 5 - 0 wins don't come along very often. However, there was a period of at least 20 minutes in the first half when QPR had complete control of the ball. OK, they didn't really look like scoring, but for that period of the game we looked pretty ordinary. Either side there were some great performances, including Larin, who didn't get the goal his efforts deserved. Ronnie Edwards also showed why we should never have let him go. |

However, another season of ritual slaughter in the PL, brought about by a late season scramble via the play offs is not what we need. |

We all know this would result in the slaughter of the innocents - a lesson we have surely learnt from last season. With only 2 or 3 players who could maybe hold their own in the Prem, we would require a whole new team. Sunderland seem to have achieved this, but without a change of ownership, that is something we can only dream of. |

I can't believe the last sentence of your report Nick. Any thoughts of getting involved in a promotion race is out of the question. 20 minutes replicating Rorkes Drift against a sub par Championship team does not qualify us to get anywhere near sniffing distance of the Prem.

Sorry Nick, along with most others I believe you have called this wrong. How anyone who witnessed it cannot say that it was a much improved performance I do not know. For the first 20 minutes the atmosphere was as flat as I can ever remember (as noted by the Swansea fans), but then something changed and we looked a different side. Yes, some of the substitutions made no sense, particularly those made with 4 minutes of normal time left, but overall this was much much better. If only the squad was smaller and he had less opportunity to chop and change...... |

A generous verdict Nick. The fact is that the fans were really up for it, yet by half time the team had burst our bubble - normally the job of the away side.
The timing of the game could not have been worse, with the international break along with the arrival of the new signings, meaning that 11 individuals took to the pitch against a proper team. This was not the managers fault and we shouldn't rush to judgement. However, watching the centre backs endlessly exchanging passes for no purpose whatsoever was depressing because nothing appears to have changed. The slow, ponderous pattern of play suggests that the ghost of RM has not been exorcised - it seems like years have passed since we've enjoyed fast paced, one touch football.
Goal scoring will remain a problem. Why do we not have two class strikers instead of five average ones? Ings has never been replaced, as many others have said here.
