Thanks Clive. He’s not the box to box we so so desperately need. And probably two of them. The analysis, as you say, is that he is a slightly better Hayden-type of player. I am so bored of seeing midfielders who cannot turn on the ball and create.
But I’ll give him a chance to prove me wrong.
When oh when are we going to get the midfield type that we have so clearly needed for years? And,
Clive, you and others have often made the point that others in this division seem to pick them up frequently without issue. |

Got to say i agree. But his biggest problem in these days of huge physical specimens is, imho, his height and size. He’s always going to lose loads of headers against people taller and stronger. He’ll be good for us but I reckon those limit his upside |

I’m 66 years old. I’ve been going to the r’s for 60 years.
I am sick and tired of watching managers of the only 2 teams I care about (r’s and England) making non decisions. I lose count of the amount of games at the Bush where every bleeding one of us see we need to make multiple changes, even when we are winning, get legs on , shake things up. Yet time and time again, no changes till far too late , 80 odd minutes. How F’ing difficult can it be ffs?! Tell the players before the game, “I will make changes, no reflection on those I bring off, put up with it’’. Last season Stephan no different to the ones before him. I hope and pray he changes this year so you don’t have to scream for changes.
And England tonight. Yelling at the telly on 60, get some bloody legs on, so obvious and he didn’t do it. We could all see it. Legs, get legs on ffs!! Ollie Watkins, Rashford, anyone who is fresh ffs. Utterly devastated |

Been on literally dozens. Just got back from one. Think everyone who can afford one should give it a go, most love them . You have to do loads of research to find the right cruise line for you as the difference between them is immense. P and O and Cunard have proper ‘pubs’ so you’ll get your ales. These days the better lines do not have regimented meal times and dress codes are far more relaxed |

Amazing stuff. I’m 60 years season ticket holder this year (maybe even 61, but my first memories are of the 66-67 season). Those first few years was me, my two brothers, my mum
And dad and my two nans. We used to get bundled in to ellerslie road’s wooden stand. Me and my brothers wore blue hooped knitted jumpers that my Nan made.
I remember looking over at South Africa Road with a big tree at the back of it. Then Jim Gregory built today’s stand there and maybe a season or two later built the new Ellerslie Road stand and we were displaced for a season (or maybe 2) to South Africa Road (I enjoyed it there as in the winter you got the sun to warm you up) and then back to Ellerslie for the same seats that me and my mum and dad sat in ever since, until my dad died aged 91 two years ago. My mum is getting on for 91 now and this season has given up her season ticket so now it’s just me and my son of 34 years old who’s been coming for 30 years, poor bugger.
My god I’ve seen some wonderful players over the years, no right to see the like for our little club. Off the top of my head, standouts for me are the obvious, Marsh, Bowles, Sinton (just love that man), Wicks, Clive Allen, Bardsley, Ferdinand, Simon Barker, Ray Wilkins, tarrabt, Clint Hill.
Think I’ll be going forever. |

That centre mid is shocking. If we’re relying on Kieran Morgan as a go-to, short of an incredible improvement in ball retention and delivery, he is nowhere near ready and needs a season long loan to hone his craft.
We need maybe 3 centre mids, 2 of which have to have the ability to
Win and ball and turn, or receive a ball and turn, then get forward to support the attackers. We’ve been crying out for one for years and to me we can talk about full backs all day long but unless that is sorted we will continue to be (1) carved apart and (2) get very little positive forward movement without resorting to long balls and continue to be a frustrating watch. |

Harsh. It was the most unnecessarily cautious performance of all time. If you’re given a rare opportunity, try to grab it, not stand there all night being available and passing backwards every time the ball comes to you. |

but on multiple times they go the ball, they had time and were not being pressed. on most occasions, they didn't even look forward "there's a hot potato, don't want that, get rid of it". Except, the potato was not hot, and needed dealing with as appropriate for each time that the ball was with them. |

Kealey Adamson and Tylon Smith played like the were shit-scared passing the ball forwards. They looked petrified every time they got the ball in case they might not find one of ours with a pass, so immediately it went backwards, apart from two long balls from Tylon in injury time, when the situation was desperate I would be surprised if either of them had positive passing yards in that game. The left hand side of the Swansea team will never ever have an easier game - "that right back isn't ever going to test us with a run or a pass forwards, so just relax and press the player he is going to inevitably pass back to".
I'm all for giving the kids a good run out but it is pointless if they do not pay with any freedom whatsoever, especially in games where the result is not the be all and end all. |

Delighted win the win and the finishing was absolutely sublime (can’t think of another chances to goals ratio for us - boot on the other foot earlier this season at Coventry but they were tearing us apart anyway - like it but maybe Jack will have the answers).
But I did feel a bit sorry for pompey as I thought they put a shift in and played well. Can see them staying up if they convert chances. |
