I would rather someone who has clearly proved he has a high degree of business acumen employed his own people to take care of at least the commercial aspect of the club. The current board do not fill me with confidence if they were given money to spend as they wish.
This does appear to be great news, full credit to all those involved in the negotiations, and I include the board in that. Credit where it's due.

Why should they take a smaller stake? Out of the goodness of their Christian hearts? All potential investors know our financial situation and basically have us by the balls.

It's not necessarily the style of play, it's the tempo which has gone right down. If we pass it around with pace, pull teams out of position, make runs into space and have an end product it would be fine.
It isn't, it's slow and lethargic. We overplay it and get caught in possession. We make mistakes and that is now costing us goals. We pass it back taking a negative option almost like we're waiting for the perfect opportunity rathe than having a go and gambling on our forward players making a run.
I don't know about the Sandy who were great on Tuesday but I find that in the Pearl Street there's an apathy building up. There's a resigned sigh that goes around when we pass it back to the keeper again, which can turn to anger. It's an entertainment business and to often we're not entertaining.
This (in my opinion) is down to the tactics and therefore the manager. I haven't seen a single team in this league, granted I've not been to every game, that with a bit more drive and attacking intent who we couldn't have beaten and its so frustrating.

There's a really sick joke in there somewhere but even I'm not going there!

Jim started out poorly, I was very critical of him the defeat against Hereford and the walking football on show was awful, we were utterly clueless and showed no attacking intent.
Then with performances like Hartlepool away and Altrincham at home I thought we had started to turn a corner and a push for the play offs seemed likely.
Then came the enforced break and we have been dreadful ever since.
What annoyed me is it has been proved that when we play with tempo we can play well and it's good to watch. Jim must have seen this too and yet unfathomably we are back to awful to watch walking football.
I wasn't a fan of appointing Jim in the first place but slowly he started to win me round. Unfortunately I am back to where I started and unless we have a really strong end to the season I think he has to go.

It was pretty shocking although I did quite enjoy the atmosphere for about 10 minutes after Dave's goal and their disallowed one. What I could not understand was the double substitution before they took the corner, I thought everyone knows you never fo that- apparently not Jim

This is absolutely true, however there is nothing to stop any new owner from allowing the fans to have a vote on the future of the stadium/location of new stadium as mentioned in my post re Lincoln City
With ownership of 90% of the shares, they can be as inclusive or otherwise as they wish and there's sweet football association we can do about it.
Vetting any potential owners is the best safeguard we have and, Gauge should remove himself from this process if he has a shred of decency left.

The price of football recently interviewed Rob Bradley chairman of the Red Imps Community Trust, and the fan representative on the board at Lincoln City.
They have quite a complicated set up there with holding companies, new American investors and the community trust. There is more of a shadow board set up and members have the casting vote on things such as change of kit colour, change of badge and interestingly the location of a new ground if is beyond a certain distance from the town.
There are many similarities between where they are now and where we could shortly be headed. Hopefully when the trust get the chance to meet with WSH something similar could be agreed.

I was under the impression that we had paid back the council money early which was one of the reasons we are cash poor, of course the council may very well have given/loaned us othe money which I don't know about, quite happy to be corrected.
Once again I have to say that on this board people disagree and have opposing views but despite being passionate it has not sunk to abuse and remains civil.

All fair points but why should Rochdale Council who have a duty towards its 220,000 residents give a toss about a football club that is important to only 2,000? less than 1/100th of the town. Especially when budgets continue to be squeezed? It won't be political suicide the vast majority of this town doesn't care.
This town is apathetic to all its sporting clubs it has always been.
Yes we all fought hard to keep this club out of the hands of Morton House, but I know that I can't do that again as I simply don't have the money. We need a larger fan base and all of them to contribute probably via monthly direct debit a larger amount of cash than the trust membership fee, such as Lincoln and Exeter do and even then there is outside investment.
It's a great idea in theory, I just doubt that we can raise enough money even to keep us going while all other avenues are explored.
I don't like the situation, I really don't like the timing of it and the pressure it has put on us as fans to decide the fate of the club.
I also want the chairman, and maybe others on the board removed once the situation is resolved because of this.

Although unlike bury I don't think any of us are of the "enjoy the ride" mentality, it's pure and simple a gamble and one that we really have no choice but to accept.
If we don't pass the resolutions at the egm then we don't exist. If we do pass them we have to hope the new investors are more Fenway Sports Group and less Stewart Day.

I think (however I am no legal or financial expert) that once you own 90% of shares in a company you can do a "compulsory acquisition of shares" to get the other 10%. Which I find interesting because would they have to pay to buy existing shareholders out? and what value would be put on the existing shares, the 50p/share they will pay for their 9,000,000 or the £2/share paid by myself and many others to fight off Morton House.
Of course it's all irrelevant as with 90% they can do what they want, including mortgaging the ground gor extra income.

Highlight of the game today was that the bar was open throughout the match which helped to numb the anger at that abject display. Was really hoping that we could get something from today and maybe go on a run with games against 2 teams in the relegation positions coming up. I should know better by now.
Also a mention for the stewarding today, was excellent and managed to have a few beers while watching the game.

Your post mirrors my situation and my thoughts, I bought the same amount of shares and, as you say, at not an inconsiderable cost for my financial circumstances and for the same reasons.

I share your anger at Mr Gauge, yes he did step up when needed along with the other board members, yes he has been dealt a s*** hand with the hostile takeover attempt but he forgets if it wasn't for the fans as well as the BoD then the takeover would in all probability have succeeded.

We, the fans were told we were in a good financial position, incompetent decisions and nieve recruitment resulted in the loss of our league status, nothing from the board at all simply nothing, no communication, no leadership, no information, no fight.

Then we, the fans get snide remarks directed our way for due diligence in preventing the board selling out to another bunch of shysters, basically trying to do a bottomley. Now they are at it again with gun to the head tactics to allow them to sell the club to some unknown party of their own choosing, sounds scarily familiar to what a previous CEO wanted to do at a egm.

This board under the stewardship of this chairman has in my opinion managed to rip the heart and soul out of the club. I was sat there in the Pearl Street on Saturday with Moors fans outsinging us throughout the entire match. The atmosphere was like a morgue and I couldn't even be bothered to get angry. Apathy has well and truly set in.

I want a vote of no confidence in the board at the egm, I would rather say f*** 'em and carry on without them at whatever level than put up with this s*** any longer.

Oh, and I supported Simon Gauge at the beginning of his tenure despite what some long standing friends and fellow Daley's were telling me when asking them why they would no longer attend matches.

I feel exactly the same, these feelings thrive in the absence on clear leadership from the club (BOD) It feels to me that those at the top have jacked it in, it's such a shame as I feel that Jim and the team and the fans have got the beginnings omething good going on that I've not felt since Hillcroft.

Just because you're paranoid don't mean you're wrong.

HSE Reporting Line 0300 003 1647.

Can also be reported online via the HSE website.

I am more than happy to do this but as I didn't make it to the Flyde game any further information would be helpful.
*Height of the advertising hoarding frame.
*Distance from the advertising hoarding frame to any other source of injury crush barriers etc. It seemed very close to the away terrace.
*Cause of the injury, was it due to the impact with the advertising hoarding frame or impact with something else after Jes had gone over the metal frame.
*Injury sustained.
*Treatment required.
As a former health and safety professional with many contacts within the HSE this is the way I see it.
As this had happened before it was foreseeable that this could happen again and yet nothing was done to either assess or mitigate the risk.
This could quite easily be avoided by simply putting timber panels within the metal frame and painting them a visible colour. Therefore it is "reasonably practicable" to avoid this Injury occurring.
Any help with these details and any other thoughts or observations would be greatly appreciated.

SXD.

Makes sense to close down the Willbuts for the time being. The only issue I can see is the segregation of fans for the refreshments and the toilets in the Pearl Street.
Closing the Pearl Street would need a bit of thought you could have away fans nearest the Sandy using the Willbuts facilities and allow home fans to access Studds.
