Date Set For Southampton's Carabao Cup Trip To Everton
Wednesday, 4th Sep 2024 08:51

The draw for the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup was an absolute stitch up with home ties granted to clubs in Europe etc, Saints and Everton were not part of that and we travel to Goodison Park for what will be possibly our penultimate game at one of the last great historical stadiums left.

Goodison Park is of great historical interest for those that like iconic stands, two of them date back to the 1920'2/30's and even the main stand, one of the first of the modern day constructions is around 55 years old.

So even if you aren't an Everton supporter, you have to admit Goodison Park's closure will mark the end of an era.

Saints will travel there in the Carabao cup in September with the date having now been set for Tuesday 17th with a 7.45pm kick off.

We have taken an allocation of 1,834 tickets, although if there is an initial rush, we could be given more in the upper tier.

Tickets will go on sale in the following order:

Thursday 5th September: 9:30am - 2024/25 Season Ticket Holders who attended 3+ away matches across the 23/24 + 24/25 seasons.

I remember my first game at Goodison; 1954 against Chelsea with my grandad, a lifelong blue! The biggest memory was the throwing of toffees into the crowd at half-time, when they were still owned by sweet-maker Barker & Dobson, thus the nickname!
When the family returned home I insisted on being taken to the Dell and the lifelong stress began!!!

My first game at Goodison Park was Xmas 1974, I made the short trip on the bus from my Aunties house and watched them play Middlesbrough from the Gwladys Street end, they still had the Toffee lady throwing sweets, i remember the wall at the front of the terrace was about 5ft high, you could just about see above it.

My first Saints game there was in 78/79 season our first season back in the top flight and we drew 0-0
