![]() Tuesday, 25th Mar 2008 18:59 Keith Hill has decided to let defender Lee Crooks leave the club with more information online now. It has been announced today, by the club, that defender/midfielder Lee Crooks had left the club. Crooks was signed by Steve Parkin during the summer of the 2006/07 season having been released Notts County and went on to make 44 appearances for Dale under both Parkin and, now manager, Keith Hill. I think it’s pretty fair to say that Crooks never did set the world alight during his spell at Spotland. Although in saying that, that’s the type of player he is and it’s not often you’d see him make a mistake. And, in my honest opinion, the pick of Crooks performances for Dale was his excellent first half, last season, at Adams Park in the 1-1 draw at Adams Park. Crooks lead the defence brilliantly against the likes of Tommy Mooney, Jermaine Easter and Kevin Betsy and it was a shame to see him taken off at half time. Crooks last featured for Dale in the 2-2 draw away at Macclesfield Town, which was a dreadful game for everyone there, despite the celebrations when Murray finally equalised for Dale. “I’m not signing for another club. I now have time to myself, to concentrate on the charity walk in the summer and to weigh up my options for next year,” Crooks told the Official Site. This summer Crooks will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with his friend, Craig Grayston, as they both attempt to raise an impressive £6,500 for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity. “I want to wish the lads all the best because they are a great bunch who deserves to succeed this year.” “Keith Hill and Flickers have always been honest with me and they have done a fantastic job.” “I leave with absolutely no hard feelings having enjoyed my time at what is a great club,” finished Crooks. I’m sure I speak for everyone at Rochdaleafc.com in wishing Crooks good luck with his climb and with finding a new club in the summer.
