Where to drink in Coventry? on 20:29 - Jan 28 by bennersdale
D alien why the aggression? Just because somebody disagrees with you. You can't be right all the time. BTW I'd never go in a home fans pub at away games either not worth the hassle.
Just having a perfectly reasonable exchange of views.

Yes, a good spot - his "forthright" posting probably stifles many a good Dale debate.
Cue an aggressive reply...
And you!!
Blog off!
Edit: if it wasn't for me, there'd be no debate on this thread. I started the ball rolling with a link to a website giving info on pubs. Really aggressive, eh?
If I want to go into a pub for a drink, I'll go in, and if any of you don't want to because it's where home fans go, then keep the fook out. Simple, no?
Funny though, you reckon I'm aggressive but I seem to manage perfectly OK in so-called "aggressive" pubs? I must be doing summat right.

Fwiw, agree with DA. As a lapsed CAMRA member I go where the best beer is, not where there is a sign saying away fans welcome, then you are only offered a pint of fizzy p***-water. Bottom line, we all have freedom of choice here and you vote with your feet.
according to a Cov City Fan i Quote the following "There are a few places, there is the Black Horse, Bull & Anchor, the Hub, The casino (at the ground), The wheatsheaf."
"I am not too sure which are away fans pubs nowadays though but like with all things if people aren't silly they can go anywhere."

Woah you slow down, dont think you can take my "most aggressive" trophy off me that easily
I'll happily concede it to you nb
Let's look at the evidence. I respond to the OP with a link to a decent website. Other posters warn about some pubs being predominantly for home fans - fair enough.
I make the simple point that I disagree that pubs should be earmarked in that way - fully understanding that some fans might not want to venture in if they're wearing obvious Dale colours, which is what I think the warnings were about.
I reply about the principle of not being excluded from a pub (which is a kind of "second home" to Englishmen hence the term "public house") and we all then have a laugh and a bit of word-play.
bennersdale, flyerdale and middale then wade in - completely unnecessarily - saying I've been aggressive, so I show them what being aggressive on here looks like so they'll know the difference between that and a decent debate.
Ends with a tired riposte to my mate roccy (even though I've never met him)
I'll let people make their own minds up, but you've no need to worry that I'll threaten your trophy!

You might not think the way you post is out of order but you come across as a right prat on here if somebody disagrees with you.

Incidentally, I'm lapsed too and I'd be interested to hear why you decided not to renew membership.
I joined two years ago on a special offer which gave 15 months membership for the price of 12. When CAMRA tried to take my renewal subs at the 12-month stage I asked what had happened to the special offer (and sent them the original confirming it) but got a response along the lines of "your membership will be renewed at 15 months but we take the renewal subscription at 12" so I said "no thanks"

Have to agree to disagree here. I've given you a couple of examples and I standby what I said. Oh btw, I don't go looking for trouble or 'act up' either. I just like a few pints before a match...that's all.
...and encouraging young boys to m*asturbate I read.... :-)

Slightly different story for me. I've been a member since my student days and have worked at the GBBF and several BFs around the country and visited a lot of others too. I won't say how long ago that was but suffice to say I'd paid for the equivalent of a life membership several times over. I volunteered to switch to life-membership by paying twice the annual fee I think it was + asked for previous years to be taken into account. They told me it was a different cost structure blah, blah, blah and I could only be a lifer if I paid for life. Like you, I said no thanks. If you drink in JDW a lot, the membership pays for itself, but I am a man of principle and they just want to make more money out of me(mostly in a good cause). Must admit, they lost my membership and some of my goodwill too. Sounds like they were trying it on with you too.

I am a fan of JDW for the variety of guest ales and it's usually pretty peaceful, but even without the 50p off vouchers at around the £2 a pint mark you can't go wrong.
It's sad that they've not got their act together in terms of admin. I find it hard to believe they were deliberately trying it on (your typical CAMRA member doesn't take that kind of thing lightly!) but they made out as if I was the one trying it on - and that's unforgiveable.
