In between the Crewe and Gillingham games I went to Boundary Park. On a snow filled pitch we lost 5-1, Ronnie Cairns scored our goal. If I remember rightly, Colin Whitaker who they signed from Dale got a couple for Oldham .We had a good side that season |

My mate's dad played for Dale in the 1950's and he reckoned that at that time there were 30 plus professionals training regularly.

Thoughts on timing of inspection and likelihood of going ahead under the circs anyone? My gut tells me this must be in real jeopardy unless they have awesome drainage all of a sudden? |  |

Yes. They played in maroon and white shirts with short sleeves. It was freezing and not a pair of gloves in sight - other than the keepers')!
I seem to remember that Colin Whitaker went to Oldham in exchange for Peter Phoenix.

If that was a straight swap then Oldham got the better of the deal.
Having said that in the Crewe game the two players that stood out for my 13 year old eyes on the Dale team were Peter Phoenix on the left wing and John Hardman at right half. It's funny how I can remember that yet I can't remember what I had for tea last night. | | | |

The fact that they've already announced the date, time and ticketing arrangements for the rearranged fixture tells me that there isn't a prayer of the game going ahead tomorrow.
I think the bigger question is whether the pitch will be playable on Monday night. If not, I've a feeling Dale are free every midweek until the end of the season apart from Easter Monday.
That they've said Monday and not some time in April makes me also think that Accrington are confident that it'll be playable on Monday. It wouldn't be the first time this season that their pitch can't cope with the weather, though - are they trying to call it off early to avoid another abandoned match, like their one at home to Sunderland? | | | |
