I’m prepared to give people the benefit of the doubt on things like that for the reasons i’ve Posted. Everyone in public office should learn from it, though I doubt that will happen.

It would be an entirely different matter if she had written the AS comment herself.

Hmm, seen to much over the years, my "benefit of doubt" now has a very high bar.

Like the "I can' be anti-semitic, I'm Jewish / have Jewish ancestry" claims on social media. One guy played that card this very morning - ended up deleting their account after previous messages they'd put up referring to themselves being Catholic were dragging up.

Another example.

Muppet claims to have had Jewish grandfather who rejected and converted from Judaism in 1947 due to the disgraceful activities of Israel. People retweet etc, cite it as evidence.

Sadly for that muppet, Israel wasn't formed till 1948.

Don’t you get bored of constantly trawling the internet for examples?

Her point was that she "accidentally liked" something,

She commented in the thread that it was an interesting read! It simply does not compute.

The 'Like' and the comment were on different Facebook posts, not the same one.

Wasn't any need to "trawl the internet" for examples, both came up in my timeline this morning.

The reality is, someone comes out with bs like that, it gets cited as fact because it's what anti-semites want to believe.

Do you believe that all criticism of Israel and Israeli policy and/or actions is intrinsically anti semitic?

No it isn't, as covered by IHRA.

Conflating British Jew with Israel, for example is. Using anti-semitic memes and tropes a la Rothschild is unsurprisingly anti-semitic.

That’s what I mean about education. How many posters on here appear to be unaware of the IHRA definition? A minefield in a discussion on AS.

The IHRA definition is fine. Some of the examples used to support it are more problematic.

Each to our own experiences. It’s bad that your experiences have led you to that position.

Mind you the poster you refer to is clearly very stupid in more ways than one.

I concur. The power of the mainstream media really does control peoples thoughts theses days.

I just sympathise with a religion that lost millions of lives to murder in living memory, the mainstream media had nothing to do with that, a little chap from Austria was probably more to blame.

If of course we all agree it happenned ?

OK I've changed it.

They’re not particularly a problem for me personally but I think these are potentially problematic because they can at least be interpreted as any criticism of Israel being a criticism of Jews generally. They conflate Jews and Israel/Israeli policy.

Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews
worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
ï‚· Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
ï‚· Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other
democratic nation.
ï‚· Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.

Following that line caused the Labour Party a whole world of pain. Whoever thought that was a good idea really didn’t think through the consequences.

There are ways to criticise actions and policies of the government of Israel that do not fall foul of the examples.

Yes there are - but there are also legitimate criticisms that could.

1) Those who accuse British Muslims of being more loyal to <insert Muslim nation name> are racist. The make the claim based specifically upon race. No difference.
2) There are (nominally) Christian nations, Muslim nations etc. None of those are told they should not exist, none of those are called "racist endeavours".
3) I don't think anyone could argue against this one.
4) There's zero comparison between the two. Those throwing it out tend to be intending harm.

They are anti semetic and have committed hate crimes against Jews, stating all the usual nonsense ordinary Israeli jews have no say in nor can influence is no better than Corbyns left wing fascist views.

Hate is hate, no matter the history, no matter your cause.

Who has?

It's ironic someone wants people to "read history" whilst conveniently ignoring the Jewish history and culture prevalent for the land oh and the fact there's no Palestinian culture, history is of course yet another fact Bryny et al want to ignore.

Ghettoising? Again, bollocks. Next you'll be telling us that it's a mere co-incidence the Palestinian flag is exactly the same as the Jordanian flag, with a star added. There are some very nice hotels in Gaza, excellent TripAdvisor ratings... not bad for what you laughably claim is a ghetto.

EDIT:

Of course you'll also not mention that Jews praying at the Temple Mount, one of the holiest Jewish sites is viewed as evil. Ok, so Al-Aqsa was built on top of part of it long afterwards but dammit, the Jews weren't there first...

There are anti-Semites and there are people that make or like anti Semitic posts through ignorance or not reading a post carefully enough. A big difference in my opinion but one that is rarely discussed.

If there was social media in Wilson’s time in my opinion people would have made the same mistakes as we see today on any social media forum including this one.

Education is what is needed not name calling.

And there are people who come across as anti semitic, but actually aren't.
I am not anti semitic, but that IMH thingy reckons that I am. I do not hate Jews at all, but I do hate what they are doing in Israel. Those ones are kunts. Zionists or whatever. They are kunts. That doesn't make me anti semitic.
