The British public solidly behind the government on 15:39 - Apr 18 with 3815 views | pjt50 | A normal phenomenon in times of crisis - especially when we don't have a functioning parliament to scrutinize their actions. Initially even Trump's approval rating went up. Unfortunately the supporters of US federal government's coronavirus "strategy" include a sizeable proportion of gun-toting right wing weirdos.

In our latest poll, 42% of Labour voters say the government is doing well, down 14% on three weeks ago, while 54% say they are doing badly, up 18% on three weeks ago.' Looks like Labour voters are politicising this crisis.

It’s odd isn’t it. We are supposed to be “all in this together” but there are posters here who take delight every day in trying to bait those of a different political persuasion. It’s not ok to criticise the Government when they clearly f*ck up but it is okay to call other people with a different point of view “scum”. Still, Captain Thomas Moore has now raised £23.3m so it gives you hope that there are still decent human beings out there who think that caring for others is the right thing to do. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

To be fair, it is only really OS who is thoroughly disgusting in how he goes on. I don’t know if he thinks it’s funny or if he just really gets off on appearing to be a complete c*nt. Either way he could do the decent thing and just stop it. He’s claims to support Britain and British values but I don’t come across anyone in my day to day life who behaves like this. Maybe I’m lucky, maybe some people have to put up with c*nts like him all the time.

The British public solidly behind the government on 17:34 - Apr 18 with 3719 views | Sadoldgit | Who is Giles? Why the obsession with getting behind the Government. I am sure we all want the people who are making decisions to make the right ones to save lives. Alternatively it helps no one if they are making mistakes that are costing lives and they are not pulled up for it. It is very clear now that lockdown and school closures were auctioned too slowly - a mistake that cost lives. We still don’t know if we should be wearing masks yet other countries are doing so. It is very commendable that you want to support the people you voted for. Well done. But think about those who have lost loved ones, think about people who are in the front line daily with little or no protection. Think about why people are concerned that proper specialists aware calling the Government resolve a “shambles”. You think they are doing it for a laugh or for a wind up? Take your blinkers off mate.

The British public solidly behind the government on 21:17 - Apr 18 with 3617 views | Sadoldgit | Some information that the People’s Government haven’t told you that might help save your life. Social distancing is given at 2 metres but the Covid-19 virus can travel up to 8 metres in water droplets from coughs and sneezes. If someone coughs or sneezes in an aisle in a supermarket the virus can travel over the top of the aisle into the next. The virus can hang around in a cloud of water droplets long after the person who coughed or sneezed has left the area. It would make sense to start wearing masks, but I guess we will need to wait a bit longer for the penny to drop with Matt.

I'm currently holed up in The Netherlands. Most of the guidance is the same — if implemented a bit differently — except that the “safe” distance here is 1.5m rather than 2m. No idea why, unless somebody thinks that Brits can't do decimals.

Right now - somewhere in Spain on a Spanish forum - there will be a 'sadoldgit' (triste viejo git)... and an equivalent 'sadoldgit' (triste vecchio idiota) on the Italian websites asking the exact same questions. There's probably a 'sadoldgit' (悲ã—ã„å¤ã„git) on the Japanese forums tonight - especially in the Osaka region. Like you, and many others sadly, the have all failed to understand that this virus spread like wildfire and cannot get their heads around the fact that no matter how much government preparation the likes of Italy, Spain, France and the UK took - politics aside - it was never going to be enough for this highly contagious disease. In Osaka tonight, by the way, the mayor has appealed for people to donate their raincoats, so they could be used as personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers whom he said were being forced to fashion PPE out of rubbish bags. And that - in modern 21st century ultra-high tech Japan. Who'd have thought eh?

Johnson's laziness is all coming out now, the conservative Sunday Times have done a bit of an exposê on it today. It was always well known by people who took an interest in politics, but most of the general public won't have a clue about it,they get their news from the BBC and far right Facebook memes.Johnson has led a charmed life sacked twice for lying, spunking £53 million on a bridge where not one brick was layed.Hid in Afghanistan when the commons voted on the third runway at Heathrow. His luck has to run out soon

The British public solidly behind the government on 10:18 - Apr 19 with 3423 views | Occasional_Showers | Michael Gove explained all this and what he said made perfect sense. The government are doing a good job. The left wing fanaticism on display now running our country down is distasteful and some people are going to be taken in by it, but the overwhelming majority of people will see the good work that Boris and his government have done and will do what good patriotic people do in a crisis and rally round the flag.
