What did Starmer deem 'appropriate' as a response? From what I can glean, Corbyn is judged to have been negligent and 'less than robust' in dealing with complaints relating to anti-semitism, whilst leader of the party.
There are reportedly over 50 complaints pending against Corbyn himself in relation to the same matters and his apathetic response.
This sort of criticism will create a schism in the Labour party as people align themselves more clearly with the different factions within it.
Starmer needs a strong stomach to deal with what's ahead. | |

No doubt Corbyn's close circle fought to protect him against a hail of opposition from the media & others in the PLP in many unsavoury ways, including trying to suppress opposition, but the problem with your citation is that Ellman et al were always politically opposed to Corbyn so can't be deemed impartial - it's very hard to find a supporter of Corbyn's politics who also condemns him as anti-semitic. | |

Possibly, 'yes I am anti-semitic, it was all my fault and I resign from the Labour Party'? He may have been negligent or insufficiently robust but that's not why he's been suspended. Agree about the schism, is that what Starmer wants to demonstrate his 'new management'? The Labour Party throughout its history has been split between socialism and social democracy and has never fully supported socialist policies so there's a strong argument for socialists like Corbyn not being in it. | |

There is very little chance of any unity, whilst Momentum have such a strong presence and people like Len McCluskey are dictating what goes on.

I will strongly contest the political intervention to suspend me. I’ve made absolutely clear that those who deny there has been an antisemitism problem in the Labour Party are wrong.
It’s also undeniable that a false impression has been created of the number of members accused of antisemitism, as polling shows: that is what has been overstated, not the seriousness of the problem.
I will continue to support a zero tolerance policy towards all forms of racism. And I urge all members to stay calm and focused - while this problem is resolved amicably, as I believe it will be - to defeat this awful government, which is further impoverishing the poorest in our society. | |
