2 lifelong supporters have been issued with a 3 year ban by new General Manager from all home AND away games because of their opposition to the club owner.

Just looked on the link again.. there is a link under the photo of the letter he got.. shows copies of e mails asking for his season ticket money & then goes on how this new guy at Oldham used to work for the Oystons at Blackpool…
LMAO 😀😀🤣🤣
I looked up his LinkedIn profile; his employment history screams "owners mouthpiece". He's a puppet for undesirable owners.
People don't forget stuff like this. I don't fancy his chances of getting a decent role anywhere that performs due diligence after he's inevitably popped off from the Biffos.

Their owner has been on TalkSport this afternoon - at great pains to point out how he is working so very hard, & the club is going in the right direction...

Its the first time I've heard that full clip... I'd be even more worried now if I was an Oldham fan than I was before - the first 90 seconds the guy is saying none of its his fault, and it sounds a lot like he is ready to let it fail and wash his hands of it.

I'm not Jim White's biggest fan, far from it but at the end of the interview he says at the fans - "he's in the UAE, just go!".
Here's the serious question - what type of owner tries to run a League 2 club from the UAE? Hardly a serious on.
Oldham are £3m-£4m underwater and sinking fast. Players not being paid on time and their next 8 games (including vs us) shape their future.
Not convinced with Abdallah Lemsagam in charge, they are going to do anything other than slip into the National League and then possibly oblivion.

I feel sorry for Oldham fans and that could have been us, if Bottomley or the shysters had got their way, and could still happen, if we are not vigilant for possible dangers in the future. Oldham are a mess financially, they have a player embargo, they change managers every few months and the owner makes Bottomley look like a success and I fear for the future, because like us, they would find it difficult to get out of the conference.
Even the EFL have got involved, they have offered an experience CEO to OAFC to sort the mess and the owner as rejected their offer, because he seems deluded that everything is running fine and the opposition is just a few fans. The fans are seeking to organise a boycott on boxing day at home against Scunthorpe.

There's no doubt that OAFC are currently a basket case and their future appears to be very uncertain. How fortunate we were to grab the reins in time and get things stabilised before the inevitable happened.
I have to wonder how boycotting the match will strengthen their position, apart from a few lines in the local rag. It will punish the club further financially and hamper the team through lack of support in the stadium. This isn't the players fault, so surely getting behind them is a better option?
Again people have to question the failed 'fit and proper person' test that allowed this shark to get his hands on the club. Any rule changes are now too late for OAFC, but the stark reality is that yet another established club could (are) be on the brink of oblivion, due to the blinkered attitude of those whose duty it is to protect our clubs from the people who seek to destroy them.
As many others have said, I have no affinity for OAFC as a club, but I feel at one with their supporters who have now met with this fiasco which seems to have been several years in the planning.
If their club ownership problem wasn't bad enough, their league position makes the risks to their future existence even greater. It seems to me that a 'managed relegation' (there's that phrase again !) is underway, prior to a fire sale of players and assets.
Let's hope that somehow the looming disaster can be averted and the club is saved for the fans sake. I shudder to think how close we came.

Couldn't agree more, and if i'm reading you right you're pointing the finger at the EFL
I still maintain - despite our own successful (in the main) liaison with them - that they remain an utter disgrace to the game they purport to uphold. Naturally, we had to keep them onside, but does anyone doubt that but for the work undertaken by our own fans and board, they'd have come anywhere near protecting us?
And we're now at the end of 2021. What the heck are they doing about the Morton House mob, et al? If there's some kind of process still in play, its just as well we're not having to hold our breath

I don't disagree DA but its a simple numbers game for those who do not have a club's interest at heart.
The possible neerdowells in football many several thousand based both in the UK and abroad. The ones from abroad are introduced by "fixers" - and we know one or two names who come into that category - who move a bit of money but usually leave the club in a worst state than they found it. An "anti-custodian" if you will.
The EFL have a small team of committed people but limited resources, something that the neerdowells know and take full advantage of.
The demise of Bury FC was a watershed - the EFL were seen as an ineffectual regulator, slow and pondersome and that is what ultimately did for our neighbours of Lower Gigg.
The EFL have proved more effective since, but again on limited resources.
Until they start bearing their teeth - as a regulator should - the neerdowells will continue hiding in the shadows, ripping of the fans and asset stripping the main institutions of many towns up and down the country.
I hope 2022 is the time where the EFL bear their teeth and use our case as another watershed - investigate thoroughly and ban for life anyone connected with any wrongdoing. The clubs and the EFL have to be lucky every time - the neerdowell has to be lucky once and pickpocket its victim for its own ends.
Until there is the mandatory owners test, there will be another Bury FC, sadly it is inevitable.
Our fans and our supporters trust deserve a huge pat on the back for being there when it mattered.

Absolutely; and your point about the mandatory owners test being the most pertinent of all the good points
The EFL could save themselves and their limited resources a great deal of trouble by being pre-emptive in this regard. That they don't is my main point of contention with them

And all parties must learn from this. Rochdale FC doesn't come out of it too good neither.
If the Old Board had bothered to do due diligence on Bottomley; he would never ever have been invited onto the Board, and we probably would not have been in the mess we was in last Summer.

One issue Oldham have looking at their messageboard and social media is that some are creating problems and some are trying to claim credit for the ridiculous climb down by the club. As has been shown at Dale, it needs a united front with no egos to sort situations.
There is perhaps a simple solution to many of the problems associated with buying football clubs... Anyone wanting to buy more than 20% of any club should first register their interest with the EFL prior to opening negotiations. And no negotiation could take place until the registration process is completed. The registration would include initial proof of funds and should require a detailed business plan. The applicant would agree to a detailed examination as a fit and proper person, and would be required to place the funds in Escrow with the EFL pending finalisation of negotiations with the club and EFL.

The owners cannot stand any form of criticism or dissent, and take it personal, do they not understand they behaviour, recruitment and policies at the club is the issue behind the fans attack on the board and ownership. In simple terms they attacking bad owners.
It makes you wonder, if DB , baldy and the shysters from down south had taken over, how many dale fans would have been banned by now.
