Our fans are shit 19:49 - Oct 19 with 5064 views | PatfromPoole | Northam full of people on their phones, not watching the game. Generally not giving a shit. And this was when we were 2-0 up FFS. Try and start a song and people look at you as if you’re a weirdo. Martin has to go. But he can take a lot of our fans with him.

Our fans OK on 09:58 - Oct 20 by PatfromPoole | But even when we were 2-0 up yesterday, the place was like a morgue. We don’t have enough fans prepared to make a noise. It doesn’t need to be a chant, just some noise would do. |
We were looking fragile even at 2-0 the fans have seen this week in week out. Football isn't like that anymore,Pat.Its a result driven business now, people fork out a lot of money on and off the pitch. The days you could push your way through a turnstile and pay on the day are gone. You have to behave now, watch your language and pay attention to your phones. You need to fork out a lot of money to watch football these days, the clientele are a different breed these days. Saints fans are as good as anyone else, they are not S..t.

We're close to the Leicester fans and they woke up in the 2nd half and were noisy, but among their chants was the one that agreed with Pat as several away fans do " your support is fkng sh1t!" Unfortunately it tends to be correct apart from the opening 15-20 mins and a while after we score The last 15-20 mins yesterday was just very tense with Leicester dominating and we were quiet

I agree, our fans are no better or worse than any others in the PL. In most stadiums in this league, it's full of tourists who just take pictures and smile. We have put up with more disappointment than most and that is going to have an impact. But apart from a scattering of boos yesterday, many still clapped the team and RM after the game yesterday. We have so many fans who sit there in silence most of the game, then come alive at the end to clap the team and manager, who have yet again let us all down. As for the stadium changes, I was willing to give it a go, but in my opinion, it hasn't changed results in the slightest and it's still the away fans making all the noise, even from the corner. Even when we were losing games, we at least had the interaction between the Itchen north and Northam stand, across the away support, which often got people going amd often upset the away fans too, which got more fans involved. Now, there is no interaction. The Chapel just sit there in silence. The away fans have the Chapel next to them and the 900 pound season ticket holders the other side and just sing how sh!t we are. It's silent over there. The Northam tries at times but I agree there is nothing to cheer.

Where do you sit? From my seat in the Itchen north the Northam was quite loud at times whereas Leicester were some of the quietest away fans I’ve heard in a while…

I sit in the Kingsland but further down the stand, not next the away support. The singing used the spread all the way down the Kingsland but not now. Leicester were obviously quiet whilst they were losing. Away fans say they can't even hear the fans in the Northam. The away fans used to hear the Northam loud and clear when they were next to the home fans in the Northam. [Post edited 20 Oct 11:16]

I agree, Chesham. The change in the setup has ended the away fans' dominance at St Mary's, except at the end of games when we have been well and truly beaten. Even then, it was worse before, when you'd have heard the away fans singing booming out much more loudly than now from the Northam end. Being stuck in a corner, where the acoustics are worst, muffles their sound. [Post edited 20 Oct 19:51]

But at two nil against a quiet set of "away fans stuck in the corner", it didn't make the slightest bit of difference. Why didnt the Northam wall roar us on to victory and suck the ball into the back of the net? Saints were playing towards the Northam in the second half. We still lost, against another promoted side at home. It's what happens on the pitch that matters. When Koeman was manager with top players like Mane, Van D, Tadic and so on, we won games when away fans were behind the goal because we had a good team and manager. Putting the away fans in the corner hasn't changed a thing apart, from increasing the attendance because there is not any agro anymore as the fans in the Chapel sit there in silence, so no need for any netting. The away fans can rib the home support as much as they like without any reaction. But that's what the club wanted, more revenue and less need to spend on security as our loudest fans are well away from the away fans now. [Post edited 20 Oct 11:28]

Our fans are OK on 11:34 - Oct 20 with 867 views | dirk_doone | Considering the fact that we have gone a record 21 Premier League games without a win, our support is pretty good. The home support is better than it was at the beginning of that run. At least you can hear the home fans above the away fans now. But, as you say, it doesn't make a very big difference to what happens on the pitch. If it did, clubs with fans who always boast about how great they are wouldn't be well below us in the league now. It's been more than half a year since little Pompey last won a home game. It's just a small mercy this season that our home ground is no longer 'owned' by the away fans. [Post edited 20 Oct 11:37]

Must have cost the club a few bob to make these changes. Money which could have gone towards Martin’s payoff.

Our fans are shit on 11:39 - Oct 20 with 850 views | Jellybaby | People living their whole lives via their phones, even at live events is a depressing aspect of modern life. A lot of fans appear disengaged - maybe it's a coping mechanism or maybe they genuinely don't care.

Can you get to the Northam concourse from the Itchen??? There aren’t actually that many shirters near where I stand. And the age range is largely 20 to 40. Should be ideal for a good atmosphere. But it seems you almost have to be in your 50’s to get any noise going nowadays 🙄

Yes you can I discovered yesterday, maybe because it was 20 minutes before match it was the slightly gimpier fan. Feel free to wonder into the truely exciting itchen concourse, you can get a kingfisher for £6.20🤮

The team's recent home record in the Prem has been pretty dire in recent times and no wonder the crowd is less than enthusiastic.

So Nobby, as you tell us you post about 10 times from the stadium (allegedly) during the game, would you say you're one of our shit fans?
