Probably one for the 'you didn't know this' thread but was anyone else aware we gave him a week's trial when he was at Malmo?

So assuming this was just before he left Malmo, he may have shared a pitch with Aziz Ben Askar.

I believe I am right when I say this, but didn't we miss out on signing Kevin Keegan from Scunthorpe over a few thousand pounds? Our prevarication merely galvanised Liverpool into action.

The rest, as they say, is history!

I'd imagine every club (certainly those that have predominantly been in the top two divisons) has at some point passed on players who went on to greater things.
For us, John Barnes is another one.

Yes.

In one of Francis Peacock's excellent books, the story is told that the manager (Jago?) wanted him but Gregory said no.

I still rue Ray Houghton not signing (when it looked to be a done deal) and Miky Hazard. A mate of mine swore blind that as he was exiting the box office, Hazard exited LR and intimated it was on.

Houghton would have been outstanding in the B&W and I think Hazard in that Venables team would have similarly shone.

I went to junior school with Francis, we were great mates.
Does he post on here?

Peacock is probably the best writer I've come across on QPR. He's a man after my own soul!

If he told you that, you mustn't have much time left.

Is he an angel or a devil?

Might have made one hell of a difference...

In Jagos book he also says we were in for George Best in 1973/74 but he then left Man Utd and he decided against it
