The Barry Bannan Master Class Match Thread 08:50 - Jan 3 with 31843 viewsnumptydumpty

I will front up for this one, as feel this is a must win game. Finally, I hope this is one game too far for Mr Bannan against ourselves.

But bloomin 'eck, a midday kick off.

And for the Sheffield fans to get there. One of these days, we will all have to get to the ground immediately after our full english breakfast. Its hard to get into a game so early in the day and think actually it generally shows similar for all players also.

Despite that, I do believe we will win comfortably, three nil, perhaps. But if its a loss, the natives will certainly be getting restless and a happy new year, it won't be.

So for me, a three nil win - Burrell with two and Cook with the other !!!

Don't want to consider any other possible outcomes !!

C'mon you Rrr's....

Not sure if it is the 4 games in 10 days... or that it a ridiculous 12am start... or we are playing the leagues whipping boys... it may even be the bloody cold... but there is a distinct lack of enthusiasm from us here. I don't think there has been a less enthused reaction to us scoring ...... .. ever

2, what looks like hammy injuries and a real blow that Burrell could be out for a few months. And as I'm writing this Varane as well... when are we in this country going to stop this Christmas stupidity of playing so many games!!!

The 2nd half will most likely degenerate into a non event now.

Think really the game in a non event... just want to now get out of it with at least some of the team still intact... absolutely crazy

So positive.. we are winning... Poku looks lively... and Madsen is dominant... so let us get him off at HT

Apart from that... pretty mheh

They don't look too thrilled to be playing today do they.

Are these blokes depressed or something?

...and now down again .

Blimey😲Could be half a new team coming out for the second half. If we can win this ...it could be a huge three points. They are going to be harder to get after today I reckon.

The only thing that matters today is three points. Which is just as well because this is like cheap coffee, flat.

A stroll in the winter sun so far as Wednesday look bereft of any ideas. However we desperately need a second goal as we know what’ll happen otherwise. Great chance for Kolli to step up and claim a starting place assuming Burrell will be out for a few games: pretty anonymous so far.

Huffing as usual if they don't fancy it. I'd like to see them in the Weds players boots - then they would have something to be depressed about. Club still looks a bit unprofessional on and off the pitch to me.

Played some very decent stuff there, albeit against a very, very poor team. Only gripe is that we only managed one goal, when we really should be going in two or three up.

If Burrell's out for the foreseeable and Kolli's in, that is not confidence-inspiring to me. I'd hope we can bring in Chair pronto and play Kone up top with plenty of width in that scenario. Just not a starter for me.

Let's hope Burrell's hammy is a mild strain, though I bet the club will say he'll be back in a fortnight and we won't see him till Easter.

Poll: What d'ya expect from our last 3 holiday games (WBA(A), Norwich(H), Sheff W(H))?

No one knows WTF is happening with 55% possession….it’s confused the deck out of me, god help the players.

We have played a lot more like a cohesive team for periods, just don’t know if that’s us or how bad Wednesday are, hence the possession comment.

Lack of celebration is based on a very healthy dose of scepticism that Wednesday will improve I suspect.

Perhaps now a 433 would make sense for the second half.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Off injured. Replaced by Field. Shame as he was having a good game.

TWO forward passes all half. Nowhere near a definition of a "good game".

Not enough press or intensity. We are cruising, but are only one up. They look incapable of creating anything. So why does it feel inevitable that they will equalise in our sleepy 5 minutes at the start of the 2nd half...

Another one for us, should put this one to bed hopefully.

We look like we are running on fumes...if Burrell & Varane are long-term, I can't see us risking any other key players against West Ham. Sadly.

I'd say we look to be in control and playing within oursleves a little contrained by the pitch & schedule. Sheff Wed record going a goal down is terrible and dont create many chances but we need the 2nd to kill them off.

I notice when attacking down the right, Saito comes right across from the other side to create an overload and this has been working quite well.

He’s just scared of playing on the left side of the pitch….

Come on. Some positivity needed. Before the game was all about Bannon and how he was going to destroy us. Now people are saying we are lacklustre. We have played some lovely football, look secure at the back and are well placed for second half. We have actually been playing quicker and with more one touch which has enabled us to open them up. Poku looks excellent today. Much more confident. Let's look up to the sky and not to the ground. It really is a lovely day.

Why??? Poku was our best player first half. How very very odd. This manager certainly has his favourites.

We really should be putting this awful Wednesday team to the sword before it’s too late !
It would be qpr vintage to not win this from here !

All the pace seems to have gone out of the game.
We're 1-0 up and don't look interested in adding to it. They don'r look capable.

I very much doubt it's just JS who is picking the team, but we've done that subject to death on other threads.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Are they that dismissive of the opposition to not be interested in adding more goals? We aren't good enough to be that arrogant. Weds have a reason for not caring...we don't.

I've got an idea, instead of assuming Julien is an idiot. How about maybe Poku was complaining about a little twinge and our manager didn't want to risk another injury, so that is the reason for the change. But I guess it's easier to kick Julien in the gonads.
