What was all that about on Sky last night then? How can they print an article which was blatantly untrue?
Was it Hill giving them the run-around or did they make it up completely?
Anyway it hasn't put them in a good light - I haven't looked at their report of Hill's appointment today yet.

It was a shady ploy to keep the betting market open on our next boss.

Strange one. The book had already closed, by the time they made the statement. Ian cheeseman has tweeted me, and said KH told him he had'nt even spoke to sky sports.
I reckon, if the announcement of his return had'nt been made yet, that skybet would have reopened the book at some point today, to try and recoup some of there losses.
As I said last night, to go from 1/3 to 1/8 in 2 hours, a fair bit of money has gone on him.

Maybe they just found some random bloke also called Keith Hill and asked him?

You sound surprised. I very rarely go on their site, unless I want to hear the lastest from footballers' agents.

"How can they print an article which was blatantly untrue? " Seriously, you are asking this of a news media organisation...... Please google the words "rupert murdoch" or "lying tvvat" both results will be the same...

The article could well be true even if Hill had said what he said.

Keith Hill said that he would not be applying for the job.

He didn't apply for the job.

He was approached to take the job.

Not sure. There'll be loopholes they can slither through.

What does confuse me is the link between Skybet and Sky Sports' website. Isn't this a conflict of interests?

They didn't speak to the keith hill that has been re-united with his desk at Spotland. Doesn't mean they didn't speak to another keith hill.

Not sure I get your meaning.

Are you refering to advertorials/favourable articles or product placement? If so, I'd suggest there's a bigger conflict between an international media website that can directly affect bets being wagered on a sister website.

I'm saying in most publications there is a conflict of interest between the editor and the head of advertising. The editor can not always run an article where, or in the way, they like due to an advertiser's say so.

I could list a string of recent examples that have affected me, but I'd get the sack, so I won't.

Cash is king.

If I was rich enough, and could be arsed, I would run a footy mag with no bloody ads anywhere near it. Bane of my life.

Oh and you're right... what Sky are doing is more serous than the conflict I mentioned. I was just trying to say the whole media is one big conflict of interest.

Aah, got you! And you're definitely correct.

Just the way they affect the layout is bad enough.

Yes, because 'at the time' it was still Monday. He can now consider the role because it's Tuesday and he is the Dale manager.
