Utilising the vouchers in season tickets hasn't worked, as acknowledged previously when the club released figures of those used in other games, so it's hard to work out why it was only voucher holders who could bring a kid for free yesterday. Getting in another couple of hundred shouting kids and sticking them in one part of the ground ('kids go free in the Pearl St" would have drowned out any boos!) would have been noticeable straight away. It'd be surprising if this idea hadn't cropped up, so you'd really wonder why we didn't try it as it would have fit perfectly with the other excellent Christmas-related activities that went on. Agreed. We have to get them into the routine of coming every week.

It wasn't great until that point, there were a couple of other times aside from the goal where a really poor pass put us into trouble and the crowd groans. The nature of their goal and the fact that we were at home, losing to a percieved poor team, playing not too well meant boos started to occur when mistakes were made or defensive passes were made. Michael Rose recieved a couple when he played it square rather then pump it to Calvin v Tweedledee/Tweedledum. The irony was our 2nd, as the loudest boos of the day were for the back-pass to the keeper. After that, all boos were gone. Immediately after, Spotland was back to it's peaceful, contemplative best. Well nearly, there's always 1% who are 100% unhappy 67% of the time.

Same kind of attendance as yesterday, similar lacklustre start with an edgy crowd but then Dale started playing like we have become accustomed to and the singing and general noise levels increased. Both ends of the ground could be heard singing and there were plenty of positive shouts of encouragement. Then look at the bury match; crowd started positive but soon sank to hushed disbelief as to what was transpiring on the pitch. Bigger crowds don't necessarily translate to better atmospheres.
