Fantastic idea - well done Dale (and Hornets)!

Plus, 1950 STs sold

"Rochdale Wonder Wall - Can You Help?

Rochdale Township are going for Gold in this year’s Britain in Bloom Awards and hoping to go one step further and win their category in the North West In Bloom Awards. The current champions are Bury so there’s no motivation needed to make sure Rochdale looks it’s best and Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets are delighted to be joining forces and getting involved in this year’s entry.

Rochdale In Bloom Vice Chairman and Dale season ticket holder, Roy Down contacted both clubs about getting involved as the judges pass along Sandy Lane. The raised land along Sandy Lane adjacent to the Crown Oil Arena becomes overgrown with weeds in the summer time and presents a great opportunity to tidy up this space and create an attractive feature and improve the local environment.

Ground-staff at the Crown Oil Arena will be clearing the land over the next week and we will be holding a Planting Event on Saturday 24 June to create our very own Wonder Wall!

As the Comic Con 2017 event is taking place on the same day at the Crown Oil Arena, Darf Vader has agreed to help with some planting and we are appealing for VOLUNTEERS to help our ground-staff clear the land and DONATIONS of the following flowers for the planting display: -Geranium
-Begonia
-Antirrhinumm
-Sweet Peas
-Busy Lizzie
-Lobellia (ideal for hanging)
-Cosmos
-Poppy’s
All donated flowers should be kept to the colour scheme of blue, white and red. Please bring your flower donations along on Saturday 24 June and hand these in to our In Bloom volunteers at the planting site.

Any volunteers who would like to help with the weeding / planting should contact Frances Fielding on Tel: 01706 753581 or Email: frances@rochdaleafc.co.uk . All volunteers / donators will receive a free match ticket to a football or rugby game of choice and will also be helping Rochdale Township compete for Gold in the 2017 In Bloom entry.

The Wonder Wall project at the Crown Oil Arena will be judged in its own right, as a community project. No other EFL / Rugby club is represented, so it is a real first for Rochdale.

We hope you can help and get involved!

The Rochdale Wonder Wall will be transformed to create an attractive feature along Sandy Lane and improve the local environment."

Bizarrely, I'm looking forward to seeing the outcome of this endeavour......the Club has great road frontage which if used well could attract fans. Lately it's been tidied up and looks better than the scruffy weeds and bushes that accumalated over decades, and we have been accustomed too .......

Should be a great asset now......well done the planters.

It's a great idea and good publicity for the club in the community.

I fear it won't be long before scroats from Greave trash all the good work.

In spite of gently poking a bit of fun at this further up the thread, I popped in to the COA on the way past to pick my ST up today. Hat's off to everyone who contributed. It looks bloomin marvellous and a credit to the club, in stark contrast to how it used to look.

It would also be great if the banner read "£200 STs - details at the ticket office" from the off next season, rather than the enigmatic "come and see what you're missing", which too many decided not to do.

Kudos to all concerned for not only keeping the momentum going, but by the looks of it, upping their game too!

But "Latics"? Someone needs to have a word!
