Poll: What are we more excited for?

Great thread

Difficult to pick out a clear winner, but as a top three:

1. Jonah's screamer at Southampton 2010
2. Steve Davies equalizer v Spurs 2018
3. Joe Thompson winner v Charlton 2018

If forced to choose, no.2

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

Three great moments but Thompson's winner was the most important and wins it for me.

This is not the time for bickering.

I think if Dale were a more fashionable club that could win the overall league one moment of the decade.

3 great choices. Would also add O'Grady's promotion goal and Matheson's goal at Old Trafford. This is a good runner-up as well IMHO.

Got to be a serious contender was the moment we found out Hill was coming back?

In retrospect, the day we signed Ian Henderson

A lot of good memories here but I dunno if the EFL would accept FA Cup moments.

I wonder if Eyre will be at the match Boxing day. He'll be torn at who he'll slag off more

Can't believe one of the first isn't...

...Ian Henderson's beautifully executed parried goal against Leeds Utd in the FA Cup at the Sandy Lane end.

WOWZA!!

No1 for me

Hendo v Leeds all day long.

Fa Cup 3rd round and we bossed that second half.

WHAT A GOAL and what a win. Fantastic stuff.

Neither of which are, sadly, EFL moments.

All of the goals mentioned deserve celebratory status and will no doubt go down in Dale-Folklore in their own particular way; every fan has their own favourite.

James, you mention Hendo or Davies; both FA Cup goals scored at the Sandy Lane end - the latter of which was executed under intense pressure being 2-1 down in the dying seconds of the match and from memory the cross having deflected slightly off a defender. No questioning the quality of a master-marksman striker who adjusted, trapped and hammered in the corner along the ground - that takes some doing against Prem. opposition.

I'd have to go with Hendos though. To execute such an audacious finish, wrong-foot Kenny (or perhaps he was just marveling) and score a goal that took the lead and we would end up beating Leeds; a truly unforgettable moment. Of course not happy with that Hendo's also left us with so many cool finishes; Cheltenham and Tranmere this season spring to mind.

PS. Oh for signing a Davies-type player in Jan; that would boost morale.

Aye, all the goals mentioned are very memorable and the FA Cup ones perhaps more than most.

The OP didn’t ask that question, though.

Just to clarify I was saying those 2 goals are out FA cup moments of the decade.

League Cup Matheson against Man U

EFL Thompson against Charlton

To me it has to be Thompson scoring against Charlton. The final day drama after we had appeared down and out at Christmas. The added bonuses of twice recovering from cancer, being a local boy and sending Oldham down who had a few matches before ridiculed our chances

Agree with that. Wasn't it Joe's first touch of the game practically?
