League 2 Attendance Table (Season Thus Far)!! on 08:05 - Feb 1 with 3035 views | Dalenet | As TVOS reports every edition, we have the second lowest support in the league, and despite the arguments made by some on here, it does feel like our home support has fallen considerably. The positive on Saturday for me is that we annouced a good 10% increase in home support. Maybe, just maybe, people are beginning to rally around the club to try and give us a boost to fight relegation. I hope so. We need their support and their cash. A couple of decent wins would help

Don’t think anyone is arguing about the numbers falling as they have a bit but the facts are we’ve maintained a reasonable number.

We jumped up a couple of places after Saturday... I have a spreadsheet on my PC at home with the breakdown of home and away fans at Spotland over the years, so that will give a truer picture of how the numbers have changed. I'll have a look at it tonight. You also have to bear in mind we haven't yet had three of the biggest away followings (Bradford, Stockport & Tranmere), which will boost the overall average. I know that's dependent on away fans, but so is everyone else's attendances. Salford seem to do particularly well for travelling fans - that away end is regularly packed. Agree with all of that TVOS, and yes relegation from League One has cost us enormously in attendances from away fans. And as we move towards the business end of the season, those clubs with more to hope for will bring more fans with them. Bradford will bring 9000 at least as you know

I wonder if the figures for the home attendance are people through the turnstile or do they include season ticket holders that can't be bothered turning up to watch some of the dross? Personally I would say its the latter looking at the numbers of people at games in the Smith Metals stand and the main stand from the sandy lane I'm amazed its that high

Correct......the "boost" may actually register itself better, over the summer and into next season as fans renew or fail to renew, Season Tickets. Many will turn their backs on the fare we have been served up so far. That's why this injection of new personnel is vital to buck up this lot. Let's hope things do get better, they can't get much worse.

The same argument may have held true after last season too though. Yes this season has been worse, but last season wasn’t great and we still retained support. How many is many that you think will turn their backs?

I've just posted this on Twitter but this seems like such a strange policy to me. I lived in Salford a couple of years ago and one afternoon when Dale weren't playing I went to go to a game (I think they were playing Scunthorpe) and they had the same policy of 500 or so tickets being kept back for the away end for pay on the day. That 500 promptly sold out and the stewards were then being told to stop people from paying on the day into the home end in case anyone was an away fan trying to get into the home end. We were turned away as were several others including people that were literally wearing Salford scarves etc! Why not just make the away end all ticket if there's a chance it will sell out? Saves people making a potentially wasted journey.
