Who knew Jimmy’s ‘Next Moment’ was to leave? Anyway, can someone with better footballing knowledge than I make me positive about the new season and manager? Feeling a bit flat after today’s departure also! [Post edited 10 Jun 2:06]

You should be the complete opposite of flat, you should be elated and chomping at the bit for next season to start. I'm guessing that there is now about four weeks before the players are back in for training so expect new signings to start arriving any time now. Players who are probably equal or better standard than what we have. In around about five weeks time pre-season friendlies start. We have a new pitch, which will look fantastic. We have a new kit launch. We have a renovated Ratcliffe and new kitchens. A new training ground on the horizon. We have safe standing installed in the Pearl Street.
We also have a new manager who i think will play a higher energy football than we've seen with more emphasis on attack. His team scored 99 goals last season. Reflecting back on last season, we really should have won the league, we had enough opportunities to have put it to bed before the last game against York. The Wembley performance was a poor one overall and summed up what we had been watching for the last few months of the season. So maybe the time was right for a split and the journey had naturally run its course with promotion won. That's how it feels to me, we got out of jail too many times and that wont happen at the next level. I wasn't convinced we would kick on again next season, we needed more pace, aggression and energy in our game and i think a replication of what had worked in the National League would have been on the agenda and we need to be better than that now, faster through all the different phases of our play.
So now we have a new young and dynamic manager in the building, with his assistant, a re-set for the players and fans and loads of season cards solds. If you're feeling flat in respect of next season and can't see any positives just cast your mind back a few years and remember how close we came to losing the club, these are the best times to be a Dale fan and unless we become embroiled in a relegation battle then next season will be great i think. Gordon wasn't our player, he was out of contract and we've known for a while he would probably be leaving. He isn't irreplaceable and neither is McNulty. They did great for us but we move on. Glad to be of help. I don't profess to have better footballing knowledge than you but when it comes to the club i don't just derive my pleasure from what happens on
the pitch. Having a stable well run club with no fear of it being sold to shysters or going to the wall ( Ogdens owning the Club) gives me just as much pleasure as winning promotion on the pitch. That's the big picture and as fans we are so lucky to have the Ogdens as head of the Dale family. | | | |

I am beyond pleased the way the last few days / weeks have turned out.
Jim has etched his name into Dale history and i am forever grateful for his ability to finally get us promoted in the most dramatic fashion. I would happily buy Jim a pint and thank him for all his endeavours ... but...
I did have this nagging feeling his style of play might just not translate into a successful season in League 2. I really think he has his hands full at Stockport but good luck to him.
Its a new Dawn now with Ian Watson and its come at the perfect time (early June) the club should be applauded for the speed in which they have reacted.
We have retained some very talented players and the club no doubt will back our new man to fill up to 14 playing spots that need filling be that signings or loans.
This is a massive chance to evolve.. take the next step forward. We are on our way to 3000 season cards... U block growing in the most positives of ways.. safe standing.. stadium investment, Our own training ground on the horizon, Owners who are without doubt calm, collected and level headed with business acumen. New ideas for match day catering, Hospitality boxes sold out, our own ground... Home ... Spotland.
Throw in a new senior management structure that looks rock solid its time to shake your head in disbelief that this could be OUR TIME...
Up the Dale.. dust of any negativity and just bathe in all thats good for the club, for the town and for your own sheer pleasure.

Two brilliant posts by TS and D4L. Anyone like the OP (and that includes me) having doubts about management changes, players leaving etc, just needs to read these posts to remind themselves of all the good that we have at our club. That includes anyone thinking of buying / renewing season tickets.
