Interesting to hear the differences in prices and general philosophy between here and Germany, 13 euro for a match ticket that includes transport, it isnt sustainable here, and it worryingly all about money, the fans are almost second nature, yet if they stopped going their wouldn't be a league.
They've got it absolutley spot on over there. You can stand up, have a beer, cheap. Atmosphere is great and, from what I saw between Dortmund and Bayern Fans who are massive rivals, not many trouble causing dick'eds fans walking side by side in the city centre with no aggro

Whats wrong over here?...
The difference there, is that the fans are treated as fans. They're treated with respect, and they respond to that, able to have a beer and behave themselves, its an entirely different culture, fans here are treated almost as animals, and thats what some have become

The problem is that treat some English fans with the respect shown in Germany and it'll end in a drunken riot
Although that's a very rare occurrence at spotland

what games have you been to where you feel you've been treated like an animal? There's only the games with Bury where you can even notice a police presence.
Went to Munich, 2 yrs ago, bayern played there last game of season at home, Stuttgart maybe. Went to ground no chance of a ticket but great atmosphere, coach loads of bayern fans from around Germany parked up near ground and trainstation, pulled benches and chairs out, crates of lager and even bbqs.never be able to do that here

Not myself personally but you see it in games higher up the league, more police than fans, the police are almost seeking out trouble, fans here arent treated right, ive lost track of the number of threads on this very messageboard complaining about steward activity et all.

Which games have more police than fans?
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
Germany has big fook off perimeter fencing too. It also had gazillions in investment when building modern stadia for the 2006 World Cup.
It's a good point about Football fans being treated like dirt, but it is mostly a media thing. If some numpty throws a plastic bottle onto the pitch then everyone cops it rather than just the numpty. There are too many police most of the time. In this area it's the assumption of trouble where Football fans are treated differently, even when all statistics in recent history shows there hasn't been any.
A year back I had the joy of meeting some Rugby Union fans (rugger buggers) on a train. What a bunch of tossers. Drunk, jeering, abusing other passengers.. but you know, it's rugger isn't it, they don't cause havoc. What's wrong with heavy drinking, play fighting and taking your clothes off in public. The poor chaps are just letting their hair down after a hard weeks work.

Not to mention cheating, faking injuries, cocaine abuse, sexual assault (the list goes on).
But of course - rugby is "a thug's sport played by gentlemen"!!
Anyway back to topic - wasn't the statistic that you could get hold of a Bayern season ticket for the same amount as a ticket to the Emirates for the Bayern match itself? According to Deloitte, Bayern's revenues were the fourth highest in the world in 2012 and have risen consecutively each year for the last ten years. Mind boggling...

On the train to London on Saturday morning I had the joy of sharing a carriage with a few England rugby fans. They were pissed up on the train making lewd comments at the 18 year old girls a few seats up and when the guard asked them to stop they gave him a mouthful too. But it was all ok they were only toffee nosed rugger fans on a jolly. Oh how everyone on the train was laughing.

Some of the away games I've been to to watch Spurs I've been in a crowd that's been treated stupidly.
One season at Old Trafford for an FA Cup match, United weren't sure how many tickets had been sold in the Spurs end, and were wondering if they could open and extra block up to United fans who wanted to pay on the gate. They kept us pinned in the concourse under the ground for a good 20 minutes, as it slowly filled up we became more and more crammed in. In the end they decided it was too late to open up another block anyway.
When I went to Leeds the other week, every single person in the away end had to get in this guarded police escort. As we came out the stand, not one single Leeds fan was outside looking for trouble. They led us all the way round the stadium, parading us in front of all the home support, some of whom were throwing stuff at us. They then made every single Spurs fan get on a bus into the centre - even if you had driven up and parked right outside the ground. It was the most ridiculous thing I've ever experienced.
None of that in Germany.
I don't understand how they have such excellent teams at the top end when they charge such low prices. And then they have an incredible atmosphere at some stadiums too - look at Dortmund and St.Pauli for example.
People shouldn't pretend that Germany is the promise land. It has its issues as well.
I wonder, if stewards actually turned drunk fans away at the turnstiles, would attitudes change and supporters who want to responsibly drink whilst watching the game would be allowed to? It sounds a lot safer for someone to drink 3 to 4 pints over 4 hours, rather than 4 pints in an hour before the game. Stewards could manage peoples behavior and if one club has problems week in/week out they'd have their license removed. Of course it'd take just one numpty to throw a plastic cup of beer at someone taking a corner and the entire thing would be scrapped.
Not to mention cheating, faking injuries, cocaine abuse, sexual assault (the list goes on).

Bayern also made a staggering 300m profit just through commercial revenue alone, a whole new world, they've got the off the field side of the game in Germany, down to a tea.
