I think Flint could be our most important signing. He's a no nonsense defender, he does what he needs to when he needs to and nothing more, he doesn't try to turn into prime Iniesta playing balls everywhere. It's what we need, especially in front of a keeper as poor as Ramming.
Oldham were the better team towards the end of the second half and it could have been a different story if they punished Rammings mistake but I thought we dealt with them really well in the second half. |

The keeper is awful, lobbed from 20+ yards for the first goal, wasnt anywhere near the top corner. Has no command of his area, never comes to claim a catch just flaps at everything. Need to give Waller a chance.
Mani D is proving why he hasnt done it at this level. He's easily bullied off the ball, doesn't win duels against defenders, is out maneuvered against defenders, too lazy to put more than the minimal effort in. He was more enthusiastic shaking people's hands at FT than at any point during the game.
Less said about the manager the better, if he's still here in 3-4 week we will be a great bet to go down. |

As an attacking unit we were much better tonight, we were quicker, created more chances whilst still not getting our No.9 into the game as much as we would like. Defensively I still think we were a bit shaky and a better team might have punished that.
Fair play to the starting XI and the subs, they showed more commitment than the previous starting XIs have so far this season, whether that's to do with more players that Watson has brought in playing, I'm not sure.
Adeeko was MoM for me, he seemed to be everywhere and might be the midfielder we've been crying out for. |

We don't seem to have any direction in our play, there's no objective to it and we've made like for like subs until the 85th minute when it was far too late. We're not creating anything, their keeper wasn't tested in the first half apart from a header from far out from Brown.
I'm not sure the injured players will make enough difference because they still won't know what they're doing.
Like others have said Mani D is a passenger in this system, he's too lazy to go looking for the ball and we don't do enough to get it to him. He won't score 10 goals this season playing like we are and we'd be better off with a smaller but more tenacious player in there. |

That was diabolical, there are no positives whatsoever to come out of that game. We couldn't defend, we couldn't attack, we couldn't pass the ball to another blue shirt. You can say we have injuries fair enough but we didn't even get the basics of football right in any way today.
The biggest worry for me is the amount of goals we're shipping throughout pre-season and the 3 competitive games.

Halifax - 3 conceded
Tranmere - 2 conceded
Bradford - 2 conceded
Newport - 3 conceded
This is giving off Stockdale 2.0 vibes to me. |

We're going to have to start looking for solutions away from our ground until the pitch can be fully dealt with. The rain we've had this weekend wasnt that severe and its not been consistent all weekend and the game is still off. We can't go through a winter of this with a pitch that isn't fit for purpose. |

I get that the owners don't want to break the bank and want to make us sustainable but the pitch should have been a priority in the summer. Properly sorting it out so that this didn't keep happening. We're not even in the wettest part of the year and are going to have had multiple postponements.
With all the momentum we have in the league. Being stop start due to the pitch then having to play Sat/Tues when we wouldn't have needed to could really be the difference between going up and not. |

Especially under McNulty, I can see us in a doom loop now. Given the standard of the division I'd expect we're never going to be good enough to win it but should be good enough to be in the top 7.
The question then is can we string 3 results together against decent opposition and I just don't think we can and history says we can't. I suspect we'll be in a similar position in 365 days time. |

In front at home. Bottled it again.
Manager outwitted again.
Mitchell 0 balls held up again.
Looked like conceding from every ball that came into our box again.
The team that started the game is night and day from the team that finished it and that's part of the problem.
No excuses for being 3-1 up at home and losing in the manner we did. Its going to be a long stint in this division. The only way I can see us getting out is by winning it. |

Last time we advertised a game and people supported us we served up dross and were knocked out of a cup by a part time team. It was hardly advertisement for floating fans to come back and pay £20+ to watch it again.
I suspect most floating fans will be waiting to see if we make it to Wembley this time. |

Great result and we do go into the playoffs with some real momentum now. Whether we rest players again on Monday or keep the side going will be a tough one for Jim, I think.
On Mitchell, he will obviously be disappointed that Bird was brought in and put in front of him and he's been scoring and also Rodney overtaking him in the league goals tally with a much better goal to minute ratio. I'd say its up to him whether he wants to show fight to regain his form and place in the team. |

I was surprised when I saw this stat yesterday and how many goals he's actually scored because it felt like he'd barely scored any by Christmas.
One frustrating thing is it seems whenever Hendo or Bird are playing, Rodney seems to drift more central and looks like he wants to play football. Whenever Mitchell starts with him or comes on, it seems to push him out wide and he just doesn't look anywhere near as bothered. Had he been central all season he'd have nearly 30 goals imo. |

Another performance where we created next to nothing. Another away game where we've conceded late. Another game in hand lost.
0 away wins in 2025. Not good enough. But to be fair, the pitch was bad, Sutton have a bigger budget than us, the ref was awful and we have loads of injuries so it's alright. |
