Nothing is more corrosive of respect for the law than its selective application, particularly when it’s motivated by revenue collection and the convenience of enforcement. Turning the police into a profit centre is a disastrous strategy for maintaining authority, as is belittling your armed forces. Who else is going to sustain you, your enemies? Fortunately my selection of Navy Cut brought a swift end to my time as a smoker (two weeks!). Always fancied a spell in the navy but it put me right off. |

My house in Kerry is at the end of a quarter mile boreen. There’s a primary school at the bottom just before the main road. One year I went back and the council had installed a 30 km/h sign at the turning, and about 100m up from the school, a brand new 80 km/h sign. Try as hard as I can, I’ve never got above 27 km/h before the road runs out. |

Jester’s uniform should be compulsory for any fit player who hasn’t made it on the pitch in six months. |

C’mon the Sulphurites!! (Never heard that before) Started last night, played 80 minutes. They lost very late, but at least they scored. Ugggh. Lovely Ched Evans still with us. [Post edited 28 Jan 9:20]

A bit like Devon White, doesn’t matter what it looks like, keep throwing yourself into things, you never know what might happen. On a moment’s reflection, that reads like I didn’t appreciate his moments of finesse, eg home against Millwall. [Post edited 26 Jan 21:49]

I read that he had to help Leicester fund his buyout. Is that true? |

Vale was involved in a lot of the pinball short passing in the first half that often doesn’t come off but which unlocked Wrexham a few times in the first half. He hardly touched the ball in the second half from what I could see. |

I wish Morgan had shot when he had the chance in the first half. Madsen has been a revelation this year, but his lack of goals makes me knock a nought off the most hopeful valuations raised on here. |

Fresh sprigs of new growth along the Ellerslie touchline. Might have been killed during the game though. |

Their first as well, very lucky to have a chance to clear it, and we didn’t. |

After no-one initially at right back they rushed Bennie in there and he clearly didn’t know what he was doing. Field at centre back and Jimmy on the right would have made more sense. Mbengue might gave got away with it if he wasn’t so near the wall. Disappointing that iutright violence from Wrexham players had been waved off so often. |

His pace and directness definitely perked St Pauli up a bit in the second half. Rumarn should be getting das Duolingo out. (Not you, Richard.) |
