Espanyol played at Montjuic for a decade while their new home stadium was being completed (as Barcelona have been doing until recently), while 1860 shared with Bayern at the Olympic Stadium for about 20 years and moved to the Allianz Arena until they went bust. The Moscow Olympic stadium has also been used by Spartak, CSKA and currently Torpedo Moscow. Arsenal had home Champions League games at Wembley pre-Emirates. The LA Colosseum has been used for two Olympics and three “football” teams, the Rams, the Raiders and the Chargers. [Post edited 13 Jan 11:53]

Spurs and Arsenal? Barcelona and Espanyol? Bayern and 1860 Munich? [Post edited 13 Jan 9:47]

I wonder if any farsighted but devious Millwall fans thought a £10 cup ticket a worthwhile investment to get registered as a home supporter on the West Ham database? |

Quite. The cocaine trade makes poor societies here and abroad more dysfunctional and violent. |

Great report on a proud but ultimately futile effort. Personally, I thought the turning of the tide in the second half was at least as much down to Soucek's introduction as our players tiring. He had the ball speeding out to wide forward positions after his colleagues had been happy to pass it among themselves with an eventual punt forward up to then. It just meant we were pressed right back with so much further to go to goal when we ever got it back. |

I stayed in my seat all afternoon so I didn’t see this, but I was pretty shocked that a young father in our row left his son, who couldn’t have been older than ten, while he went downstairs on the stroke of halftime, and didn’t return until ten minutes into the second half. Then at 90 minutes, the son wanted to go for a wee and his Dad told him to go down on his own. |

I can imagine teams now adding a synchronised swimming routine to their goal celebrations. The fourth official has indicated a minimum of seventeen minutes additional time. |

Does anyone know how many were watching us in our one season there? I believe the track was longer than a modern 400m track so the views must have been more distant than yesterday’s. |

I hardly ever drink before games these days and I’m always looking for a chance to get some steps in. Rather than take a walk through a shopping centre, I’d rather a stroll through some Victorian streets and an industrial backwater. We got off the District Line at Bow Road and set off northeast. There were so few people around that I was worried it would end in a closed bridge or cut de sac but we got over the motorway and the water and found a gate that would let us in about half an hour just before 2. Just as well as we were in our seats with 5 minutes to spare. I didn’t feel cold in the ground as I was dressed for a walk. I liked the rail seating, which I’d never had a chance to use before, well seated to leaning forward bellowing support all afternoon. It was more straightforward on the way back as we had more people to follow. We were at the motorway in 10 minutes and on Bow Road in 25. Along the way we passed a gated housing estate called Bow Quarter, which looked like the asylum Renfield was detained in Dracula, but actually used to be the Bryant & May match factory of Phossy-Jaw fame. There’s not much life on Bow Road, and we were surprised we were able to walk straight up to the bar an order at the first pub we came to, the Bow Bells, officially a home-only pub, it looked like we were the first there from the ground. It filled up more in the next 15 minutes, but there still seemed to be more people camped out watching the game on TV than had been at the stadium, and it was pretty quiet when we left after an hour. The natives weren’t particularly friendly, but they weren’t hostile either. I’d go back that way next season. |

My son saw a picture of Lucas with his daughter in the seats on X. |

Thom Gibbs has an article in today’s Telegraph following some disgruntled West Ham fans from Upton Park to yesterday’s game. Among the complaints, no safe standing. Must be in the away end only! |

Soucek coming on soon after our goal made a big difference, he drove them forward very quickly. There’ll be a time for picking out the bones and finding fault later. We haven’t got the strongest squad - though Madsen, Dunne, Cook, Kolli, Hayden and Walsh all had terrific games - but tonight I’m thrilled to have seen all of my team display the same passion and fury that any of us imagine we’d show ourselves if we ever had a chance to wear the shirt. |

Minority view obviously, but I thought my view high up behind the goal was fantastic, though the distance would be a problem lower down. The security was a pointless irritation and the location is awful, but we came in on the District Line to Bow Lane - 25 minutes walk (apart from a detour round the canals) and pretty easy each way. We know now for next season. |

Dropped his first corner after a great save, lucky to get it back. Really good after that. |

Writing this in a boozah called the Bow Bells, me old China plates, bouncer told Master Sheen to hide his Compaq navy shirt! Fantastic day out today, for all the talk of developing talent today showed the value of old heads like Cook and Hayden who understand precisely how much better their opponents are and what it’s safe to get away with. Great noise, fantastic goal. As someone who went to Coventry in 1996, Wimbledon in 1997 and the cup final that didn’t happen, I’m thrilled to see them go toe to toe today. |

Discovery+ I think. Don’t know too much about it, presumably a TNT overspill channel. |
