Since retiring from the cab trade two years ago I use mine all the time and haven’t felt the slightest need to own a private vehicle, with all the associated aggravation, since. Gets me out and about spending money and seeing London from a completely different perspective. What’s not to like? If we’re serious about getting people out of cars this sort of thing should be encouraged more. In an ideal world public transport would be free (although funding this is obviously another question) and there’s clearly an argument to be had about including younger people. I think the appeal for me is more to do with the ease with which you can get around, rather than the fact that it’s free, without having to own a goddamn smartphone. |
