Matt Mills and Kevin Doyle are the latest names in the speculation-mix, is there any truth or is it typically lazy journalism to link every former Reading player who may be on the move with a switch to Leeds.

It is not the first time we have been linked with Bolton centre-half Mills, about a year ago we were said to be in for the 26-year-old as Leicester City looked to offload him after his big money move to the King Power stadium soured.

Despite being a regular at the Reebok initially, he lost his place following a knee injury and it is believed he could be available for even less than the reported £2m the Trotters paid for him just under a year ago.

Kevin Doyle of Wolves is another striker being linked today after Adam Le Fondre's name was mentioned at the weekend. Doyle was discovered by McDermott playing for Cork City in 2005, McDermott paying just £85,000 for him. Doyle would later move to Molyneux for a whopping £6.5m.

He is contracted until 2015 but Wolves may have to sell players following their double-dip relegation.

As it stands, most fans will be expecting McDermott to be trying to unearth budding stars like Le Fondre, Mills and Doyle rather than chasing the ready made article. The question of his actual transfer budget will dominate the summer and only time will tell if Leeds have the investment to bankroll the seven players McDermott has targeted to deliver promotion.
