Sunny Gill is the referee for Dale’s long trip to Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

The Bracknell-based official is in his first season on the National List and started with Northampton v Hartlepool in mid-August, which was an appointment that made the headlines when he became the first South Asian referee in the EFL since his father, Jarnail Singh, in 2010.

He has since received over 20 appointments up and down the country, including Dale v Barrow in October and the FA Cup third round tie between Derby County and Barnsley.

All told, Sunny has refereed 21 matches this term, in which he’s showed 73 yellow cards and one red. His most recent game was Bolton v Cheltenham last weekend.
