Very proud to be voted Planet Swans Poster of the Year 2017 by my fellow posters. Especially on a site that nearly had 20 million impressions last year.

Nice job of intentionally missing the point. Of course training sessions expend as much energy and lead to as many injuries as matches.
Plenty of players get injured in training although the terminology tends to be "picked up a knock". Some even get crocked on the pitch in a pre-match warm up...
Anyway, I was being facetious but would 30 minutes of Wilf have been so f*cking daring when Everton were there for the taking?

But instead of those who would have been on here calling for his head, we get them praising Monk for what was vitally a surrender run the second half. Whoever, is in charge when we simply give up should be prepared to have their decisions questioned. But I find it ultra hypocritical that Monk is being praised for that performance.
I would praise Monk for the selection. After all, he wasn't playing.
That said, after today it is no secret where our priorities lie. They weren't with the FA Cup. Rightly so!

If you think no-one here would have crucified Monk if he'd played a full strength team and someone got injured, you're a lot nicer to people than they deserve.
LOL speaking personally as I wanted him to go for it but would hope at least some of the others who also wanted the same would have at least refrained from having a go a Monk if there was an injury.

I haven't praised him, in fact I pointed out right at the start of the thread how disappointing the team selection was. That said, I thought we played pretty well for the most part and the only difference between the two teams (our stiffs and Everton's first team, it's worth remembering) were two proper defensive howlers from Taylor and Richards.

I'm going to play the "If Laudrup was still here game" now as well. It's completely pointless but if our Danish chums and some other can do it, may as well join in.
If Laudrup had still been here, picked that team, lost the game and gone out of the cup those whining about team selection now would have been defending it to the hilt and pointing out that it's only the FA Cup and the league is priority. Simple fact is that some have had a right cob on since Laudrup was binned and have been waiting for the first opportunity to have a pop at his successor. Today that opportunity presented itself.
Human nature is strange beast.
Strange indeed, conversely what might the reaction be of some of those currently supporting the selection - including the revisionist's
Objectivity no such thing just something we can aim towards

I thought you may be. Bony for 30 minutes? Yeah, there is certainly an argument that might have been worth it.
As others have said, the trade off from today has to be a big performance Thursday, whatever the result.
I see Spratty is recycling the myth that Bony has only just reached 'full fitness'. Makes me chuckle. Also Spratty, Laudrup can't use Michu's injury as an excuse. It was his overuse of him that caused/exacerbated his injury.
You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

Semantics.
It sure as f*ck wasn't a team picked to win. They were there for the taking in the second half and we leave our matchwinner on the bench and Nathan should have come on for Lamah, not Routs.
I think it is also highly likely that Monk had very little to do with setting out the underlying philosophy behind the team selection for today.
On - what? - his second week on the job he just doesn't pick this bunch of second stringers, regardless of the merits of the performance.
This has got to have been on chairman Jenkins' instructions.

Do people really believe that Monk took the decision to throw the FA cup on his own?
In the real world, that just doesn't happen, folks.
He picked the team which showed which games this week he is prioritising. A side he hoped could still win and in the first half we were very good. The Taylor incident was the big turning point. It's simple really.
By the way I was shocked that Richards, Bartley, and Vasquez started with lita being used too. Monk will be judged on what happens in the premier league between now and May and for that reason alone you can understand his ( questionable ) logic today.

We've got some beauty's on this forum! We played much better than I expected against Everton, except for Taylor's stupid pass and the pen, we could well have been in with a shout. But some of the numpties on here think we have a divine right to sweep teams away like a discarded fag packet! To have risked Bony would have been folly, the same idiots that wanted Laudrup out are now turning on Monk! As Clasey said ' I wished some of fans on here would do one!', well I'd go one further' just fvck off and support Man Utd or Chelski if you want instant glory'. Swansea City is about achieving our goals gradually and within a sustainable business plan.
Lets get some perspective. This was a perfect opportunity for Garry Monk and anyone without preconceived ideas to judge who has it and who hasn't. Some see no good in some players and no wrong in others, no matter how they play. Premier league has to be our priority. Don't you remember when we were struggling in the lower leagues? When the cup draw came around how we would all wish for a premier league side at home? Stay in the premiership and we get a premier league side at home at least 19 times a season. FFS these are the good times. ENJOY.
