Wasnt the best but loved Chris 'Budgie' Burridge. Mad as a hatter. One save at Charlton away is one of the best I have ever seen. Seemed to change direction of dive mid flow and kept out a certain goal

I was there that day and that save is still fresh in the memory, a great shot that hit the back of one of our defenders with Burridge already committed. Managed to twist in the air to tip the ball over the bar, and the R's went on to win 1-0. Stood at the top of the old big terrace as it was in those days and had a superb view of the pitch.
I think Hucker left the club as a result of a combination of Alan Mullery and the plastic pitch. Was replaced by Paul Barron. Parkes for me was the best, but Green is certainly one of our better keepers and Tuesdays double save was one of many great saves he has made for the R's. | |

so all I have to go by are all the clips of him 90% of which are of him being beating by shots so really hard to see him as our best ever

Hucker outlasted the buffoon Mullery at the club by about 18 months. Hucker was still our first choice at the start of the 85/86 season when Jim Smith took over. He played the first nine games but I think got a serious injury (immediately before the Milk Cup run started) and Smith signed Paul Barron who kept his place pretty much the rest of the season bar a couple of games where PH played. I think Smith probably didn't rate PH that much as in the 1986 close season he signed Seaman and PH soon moved to Oxford. |  |

Chris Woods? When was that? |
1979/80 season. Tommy Doc signed him just after we were relegated. He was ever present (bar one game right at the end of the season when we couldn't get promoted) and lost his place not long after Terry Venables took over the following season when he signed Burridge and most of the rest of the Crystal Palace squad (or so it seemed). | |

In my time of following QPR I'd have to go for Parkes, Stejksal, Seaman & Hucker. We've had some damn good keepers in that time as well & Green is definitely in that list.
My knackered memory seems to recall that for a big guy Stejksal played like a fairy to start with & wouldn't come off his line but once he realised he could dominate his area he was immense. |  |

I think that really is one of the most ludicrous, hard of thinking statements I have seen on here in a long time.
The facts: Played pretty much 95% of his career at two clubs, the overwhelming majority of fans of both see him as their best ever.
Ridiculously only played once for England because Don Revie and Ron Greenwood seemed to think a far inferior keeper in Ray Clemence was better (big club favouritism). Clemence only looked good due to the back four in front of him. To me he always looked like he had a clanger in him. Remember Dalglish sending a powder puff shot through his legs at Hampden Park?
He probably only had one chance to be England's number 1 and that was just after the 75/76 season. Peter Shilton had fallen out with Revie and had ruled himself out of the summer tour to the USA. PP was due to be picked but had to withdraw for personal reasons (Jimmy Rimmer got picked instead).
I don't know whether Revie held a grudge but I seem to remember PP not featuring much in his subsequent squads and not featuring much with Greenwood either due to Shilton coming back into the fold. | |

Sommer had many moments of ineptitude it's hard to remember specifics bar the Aston Villa game at LR where he was like a combination of Lev Yashin, Dino Zoff , Peter Schmeicel and Jan Tomaszewski (Wembley '73) | |

they rarely show the 9 saves a keeper makes just the one he concedes
he's always voted our best ever so probably is

People really do under-rate Green, though. Not as good as Chris Day, Lee Camp and Paddy Kenny - seriously? All were decent for us at a level, but not one of them is or ever has been Premier League standard. |  |

I go back further than most here - Phil Parkes definitely the best in every respect.
David Seaman - top class and a very close second
Jan Stejskal - anyone remember that game v Liverpool? He sometimes had a communication issue with his defence but nevertheless a great goalie and character nevertheless.
Rob Green has been given far more work to do than any of those but I rate him very highly, despite his peccadilloes. I would put him above any of the remaining others mentioned and I've seen them all since 1967. Just about on a par with Stejskal at present
I liked Chris Woods and thought he was a good buy at the time - he had just made some sort of history by playing for Florist in a Cup Final as a 19 year-old. Went on to get England caps
Ron Springett had a rather ignominious last game for us v West Brom one NY Day - we lost 4-0 and he looked as though he had been celebrating very hard. I remember an orange being thrown at him from the Loft. [Post edited 16 Feb 2015 10:13]

I was doing my nut (quietly) as was in the wet spam end hucker went off on a stretcher plenty of blood and knocked out ,10 mins later he was stiched up and back and we won 3-1 byrne bannister waddock | |

These would be my top 3 keepers too. Steskjal and Greene would rank closely somewhere after. I remember Steskjal used to get dogs abuse from some fans when he first started, much like Greene did, but once settled and by putting in a few decent shifts attitudes changed.
Some have mentioned Burridge on here. A bit of a character he certainly was and his pre match warm ups were as memorable as some of his performances during a match. Just how many clubs did he play for in his long journeyman career? |  |
