I mentioned i done the trainspotting tour in 2012/3 .In essence a guided tour( £25) of the pubs feat in Trainspotting , Glue and Porno with the guide bloke throwing in his trivia about the films and answering our questions. I thought was clued up on Welsh and his body of work, but this geezer was a 5th dan shaolin monk.
come to think of it , i was so pissed out of my skate that i could might well have given me £25 to a random super tennant Jakey who used it to buy some tramadol. Anyway it was fkn brilliant.
Begs the question of what he'd think of you, doesn't it, jungle cat?
Never meet your heroes. Always turn out to be self absorbed white light cnts.
I met mine both Rust Eagan and John Foxx at a festival years ago. Quite frankly if it wasnt for their collective genius within the sphere and parameters of the electronic music dojo, both would be cleaning out the shithouse of bloodied Trojan condoms, empty amyl Nitrate and GHB bottles and refilling the heavy duty swarfega handwashes at Comptons in Old compton street. Other duties may include Restocking the bar of Lamont pilsner while Being eyed up and fagged out for their arse by dried out old queens dancing and cruising the horsemeat to the hi energy beats of sylvester and Hazel Dean.
still adore their work with all my heart though.
what about you , do you have a hero inside of you ?
Watched the original again the other night on Film4 just to re-cap. Still a genuine timeless classic, really looking forward to the new one. Helps that it's the exact same cast and director because there has been a few follow ups to movies I loved that have been very disappointing.
Loved Rise of the Foot Soldier, but for some dodgy sirup's, the casting worked wonders. The second one however was clumsy and and not a patch on the original.

So they're a bit 'light in the loafers ' Terrance ?
well I know I'm gonna upset my old mucka DD but what a disappointment, 20 years and that's the best they can do ? if it wasn't for sickboy & begbie the film would have panned big time , renton was just there and EM went through the motions playing him , spud was just so hammed up , not good at all the Bulgarian tart was pointless and the outcome of the film was more predictable than a Donald trump thread on here highlight of the film was the toilet scene with renton & begbie, other than that it was poor
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

The origina is one of my top 3 films ever, so it had a lot to live up to, and I was expecting to be disappointed. Saw it last night..and thought it was pretty solid, and as good as you could hope for a sequel.
You definitely need to have seen the first film. Lots of flashbacks and references to the old film. Different opinion to previous poster..loved Spuds "hammed up" delivery, and I'm a cynical/miserable old git. Great soundtrack as you would expect.

maybe looking at hindsight the best thing would have been to make it into a 3 part series like Made in England did that would have made it less rushed or less predictable than 2 hours of T2 did I mean they glossed over the reason renton came back and he is the main character I wasn't impressed with the Bulgarian bint, spud or renton and they were the main characters also at least with a series you could have implemented more of the book (porno) into it

Saw it yesterday, brought back memories of watching the original at the old UCI in Bayswater...I was living there at the time, and noticed that the hotel scene was filmed in Paddington, which I used to pass through every day on my way to/from work.
Anyway, what T2 entirely lacks is the energy of twenty years ago (as do I)...other than that, it's a decent effort, loved the Orangeman's Club Scene, the toilet scene, and the Bulgarian girl (sex scene far too brief!) - also loved the joke at the end of Kelly McDonald's cameo. Weird product placement deal for Macgregor though, everything he wears is conspicuously Adidas...must have helped with the budget.
My experience was interrupted with twenty minutes of the film to go by a couple of 'screen surfers' who'd finished watching the film they actually paid to see and decided they'd wander in, humongous popcorn in hand, and disturb us all. They quickly decided it wasn't to their liking though, and buggered off five minutes later, disturbing everybody a second time.
Watched last night. For a sequal I thought it was very good. Acting is absolutely 1st class. For an example of an actor nailing an accent, look no further then Johnny Lee Miller's Sickboy. How many Hollywood mega stars embarass themselves in that aspect of their job?

I'm sat in Spoons on Bush Green having just watched it. Loved it from start to finish including the soundtrack. SPUD is the best thing in it.
I thought it was new. It's Porno made into a movie. Read that, what, ten years ago? Nothing new about it. Still, looking forward to watching it, Irvine Welsh is the only writer in Britain better than Clive. As ever, the book'll be tonnes better though.

for all its faults, and there were many..i loved it.
The flashbacks made me confront my own parameters and limitations . were all getting older. deal with it accordingly and with dignity. particularly as i come from the same petri dish as one or two of welsh's creations .Nothing sadder than watching the 40 something pub bore in expensive twin set leisure wear boring every cnt into the kelly hoppen flock wall paper wishing they were 24 again and lamenting his boat not coming in.
'Mind that time we went to see the white swan Rents? , we took our first shot..you went first... My blood runs in your vein mark.'
Enjoyed T2 - a thoroughly more than decent sequel. Highly recommend going to see.
Saw it last night, excellent film.
Loved the portrayal of locked in self pity of the main characters, a very British trait, whilst subtly getting fleeced. And a film where the prostitute is none of the usual cliches. Inspired stuff.
