Ollie's Press Conference Ramblings 16:16 - Nov 22 with 4474 viewscoolranger

Nice to see an old friend return to Rangers, but I was slightly bemused by his press conference last week.

Looooong ramblings about the state of the nation, football, the FA, players' mentality and just about everything else that popped into his head during a 3-5 minute diatribe answer to simple questions like "Ollie, how would you like to take Rangers forward?".

Clarity of mind. Clarity of communication. Not here.

Nope, this is all about 'passion'. Therefore, the longer your answers, the more you care, the more passion you have, the more the fans will love you etc.

Can't fault his desire to do well and his honesty. Just hope there is some sensible thinking and decision making behind all the bluster.

He was asked questions about the FA and other things, he didn't just go off on one for the sake of it.

I think seeing the game on Saturday it is pretty clear there was some sensible thinking behind how he set the team up and the changes he made when they went to 10 men

The voice of reason! Nice response matey. We really do have some proper tools 'supporting' our club don't we?

Scooters, Tunes, Trainers and QPR.

It's all part of the dilly-ding dilly-dong school of management.

Sorry, coolranger - don't agree. I thought he spoke with passion and humour and -when asked about the match - his responses were logical.

The Pressers down LR have been a borefest for long enough. This is welcome relief!

I think any QPR fan who walked away from the game on Saturday without a beaming smile and feeling on top of the world has something seriously wrong with them and should probably look for something else to do as football will never make them happy

I was never a massive fan but I can listen to Hollways polemic on all manner of things if he keeps winning. To be honest he done well pulling up one journo for not quoting him correctly and he also seemed a bit tired of hearing about the interview.

The last time I walked away from a game at LR feeling like that must have been in the Warnock days. It's just been one miserable aftermath after another through the Hughes, Redknobb, Ramsey, Hasslebank eras.

Can it continue? I'd rather not wait another seven years for the next one.

Why does it feel like R'SWiPe is still on the books? Yer Couldn't Make It Up.Well Done Me!

SKH,

Yep, take your point, but, what about a certain Saturday in May 2014?

Ladbroke R says "I was never a massive fan but I can listen to Holloways polemic on all manner of things if he keeps winning". That's must be what matters. Talk won't cost a winning manager his job even if he talks nonsense, and talking sense won't keep a losing manager in it.

Interested to see how long he can keep it up.

I was umpiring at Fakenham that day, hoping the R's wouldn't win and go up, because Rednapp would stay on as manager / con man for another year at least, and really take QPR to the cleaners.

They did, he did, and .................... here we are again, happy as can be, all good pals with a manager like Ollie!

It's how we play that is as important as the results we get.

Not sure if I can claim to be the originator of that particular nickname but he is anyway.. I simply don't buy into this Les Ferdinand is Rangers through and through BS. Hire him as DoF because he a good one of those not because he was a great striker for us years ago. His first two manager appointments were nothing less than a shambolic disaster. Let's all hope its third time lucky and Ollie can keep up the great work he's done so far. LR on Saturday was a fantastic place to be again. Long may it continue.
