Our forwards less in the game than theirs as the game has gone on. We are defending OK other than a couple of dodgy passes and it's even in midfield. Got to get Done involved in the second half & probably sub Williams at some stage. If not then the ball is going to be more and more in our final third and they have the quality to stick one away. Need some inspiration from Hilly at half time
Match Thread on 15:56 - Aug 26 with 5485 views | Dale2017 | No quality in the final third from either side. The atmosphere is flat and the quality of the football isn't doing anything to help either. Hopefully the second half is better

Spot on. It's been a poor game and it's all long ball from us. That first half could have been played with no keepers and it'd have still been 0-0.
Match Thread on 16:00 - Aug 26 with 5451 views | Peaky | Was going to say the same thing. Two struggling sides cancelling each other out. Bury cautious in commiting men forward and dale toothless in the final third. Boring 0-0 written all over it. For the third week running I will say we have lost out spark, but I am still to see a decent opposition. Fine margins between teams at the moment but we are going to struggle if we don't find that edge. Positives is the effort and can safely say every player is putting in 110% again. We are missing NML.

Bury down to 10. Brave decision from the ref as a defender was close by to Done. Got to go for it now Just watched it again. Stupid by the keeper as he would have got the ball half a second later. Their defender & even Done were giving up. Probably a red by the rules [Post edited 26 Aug 2017 16:23]

Golden chance missed by I think Williams. Ball stuck under his feet - should have been 1-0 our best chance and move. Great ball to the wing then a 1-2

Idiotic behaviour from a couple of Bury fans now, kicking the ball out then gesturing at the players.

0-0 at the end. As expected we attacked more once they had 10 men and had a few good chances. Almost got hit with a sucker punch at the end. Pity Davies wasn't on the pitch when they went down to 10 as we missed the knock down option. Defence much improved. Thought Cannon and Allen in Midfield were very good as were Raf & McGahey. Couldn't say anyone had a bad game esp defence and midfield,, but we are not clicking up front. Williams isn't at league 1 pace yet. Not worried yet but another tough fixture next week & that goalscoring spark/ excitement up front isn't happening for us 5/10 today Missed MOM award - who got it? I would have said any of the 4 I mentioned above

Workmanlike from both teams. Little to encourage a return visit for the casual observer, other than the other local derbies.

Sorry, but I disagree. For it to a red card, the offence has to deny a clear goal scoring opportunity. The previous part of your post does seem to be saying that this was not the case. Also, if the goalie had not grabbed hold of the ball, it would have bounced off his body and by the time it hit the ground, Done would have been a few yards closer to the goal line than the ball, with negligible chance of scoring.

That's a very defensive comment, TVOS! It was a poor game; can't think many would disagree with that. Obviously, a hard-earned point is nonetheless welcome to committed fans. My comments weren't intended to be critical, just how I saw the game from a more neutral angle.

Glad we agree. You'd be better directing your ire at posters (presumably supporters rather than casual observers), who relentlessly criticise certain players regardless. From what I'd read on here I expected Brown and McNulty to play like they had their laces tied together. Jim, I've seen many times, and was his usual steady self; Brown, I thought, played well (especially given the audible groans, which can't help him!).

I have no ire, BJ. In fact, I'm just off for a few pints in Halifax to dull the memory of the game. I just feel you have a macabre enjoyment of being a casual fan and today was like an open goal for you.

It hit Edwards' shoulder. There were no appeals from any of the players, particularly Inman, who was closest to it.

Match Thread on 19:12 - Aug 26 with 4125 views | KenBoon | The ref got the red card 100% correct. As had been said, if their goalie chests the ball then Done could well have taken it off him. Other than that, the match was boring and low quality. In order to shore up our defence, we seem to be cutting off our bollocks up front. Them going down to 10 men just made sure they packed their penalty area, which in a way made it more difficult for them to make clangers. A word on bury. Considering the money spent, they are absolute bobbins. The lad up front had more tantrums than me after seeing the new food prices. Someone mentioned it was league two football. I totally agree, and it was poor League two football. Lots of improvement needed.

I was a fraction closer to the incident (directly in line front of Sandy) than the lino...Edwards was " cute " with his touch, rolled down his arm.
