T' cricket 07:23 - Jan 11 with 17337 views | D_Alien | Anyone else been following the Indian tour of Australia? Three great matches so far, the third test just ended with India 330-5 after being asked to make 407. Looked on at one point before Pant was out for 97, but just 3 wickets taken on the final day All set now for the decider, and Rahane's captaincy has turned it around since the first test debacle under Kohli England due to start in Sri Lanka soon, too

T' cricket on 13:19 - Feb 25 by DaleiLama | Going out and gettin bladdered. Staying away. ....... sigh If they are planning to play another "Test" here, why don't they paint England and India on the back of a couple of tortoises, stick a lettuce at the other end of a 100m track and see which one gets to the finish first. It might even last longer and would be more Covid friendly? |
Even better if they get those torty's pissed first!

A quality spinner against a quality batsman is probably my favourite battle in cricket, but not from day 1 3rd time since 1904 England haven't scored 200 in total across 2 completed innings. 30 wickets in 5 sessions. hmmm

Joe Root has taken 5-8 and the Indian commentators are trying to tell us that "it's not the pitch". Farcical.

If India lose the last game don't Australia take their place v NZ in the test final? Be interesting if they produce a no result batsman's paradise pitch | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Farcical stats magic: Joe Root's 5-8 is the lowest number of runs conceded for a five-wicket haul in test history The first time a team has scored a combined total of less than 200 in a test match in India (and remember we scored 578 in the first innings of the first test) The fewest deliveries in a completed test match since the second world war (since 1935) [Post edited 25 Feb 2021 18:43]

T' cricket on 01:32 - Feb 26 with 2031 views | Sandyman | If Root can get 5-8 on any wicket, and a test match is over in less than 2 days, something is clearly wrong. Taking advantage of home conditions does have it's fun side though as we can recall , Stuart Broad's 8-15 V Convicts? Look it up on YouTube - links not working tonight. [Post edited 26 Feb 2021 1:39]

I think we can all recall instances where the pitch and atmospheric conditions combine to produce very favourable conditions for a session, but this Indian pitch was something else. Look at the huge bowler's footmarks that occurred in their delivery stride on day one, for instance - if the game had continued the pace bowlers would've found it impossible to bowl without risking injury Also, in the match quoted, England posted 391-9 declared immediately after Australia's 60 all out, and Australia 253 after that

T' cricket on 06:43 - Feb 26 with 1993 views | James1980 | Had this happened against NZ, Oz or SA, would the ICB be planning an investigation. Just think that because it was against England a blind eye will be turned. English poor losers, sour grapes and all that.

With India being the powerbase for cricket, tests are booked around the IPL and not vice versa, with their new stadium I don't think for one minute that there will be an investigation but it may be brought up ahead of future tests there. On the plus side it was a great to have in the background, especially with the time it was at and with the wickets falling down with alarming regularity it broke the day up nicely. Oher points - only one spinner? Take heart because it will never be that bad again, Crawley booked his place for the next series, others gave the fringe players some serious hope and we gave India a run for their money and were not embarrassed in the process. Quite liked the channel 4 coverage of the tests as well.

Not according to the cricketer magazine which celebrates its centenary next month. Maybe they have it wrong, afraid I havent a clue how the convoluted scheme works, which is probably how the Indian authorities and Tv companies want it.

That's because the table in the current issue of The Cricketer magazine doesn't include the three India v England Tests that have been played this month. https://www.icc-cricket.com/world-test-championship/standings [Post edited 26 Feb 2021 20:49]

Obviously subsequent results have rendered that sentence in the magazine incorrect, as per the table and explanations on the ICC website from my link. [Post edited 27 Feb 2021 12:23]

Missed it today and will probably only see the first hour tomorrow. At least looks like there will still be a game to watch at the weekend this time ( well Saturday anyway!!)

Two quick wickets, after a very disciplined first hour, including Kohli gone for a duck Game on!

Ahmedabad duck has to be better than Bombay's offering? Nicely poised at tea.
