You think the Tories are going to fix the Welsh NHS? They are even more clueless than Labour.

I would say a good start would be spend the money allocated for the Welsh NHS instead of elsewhere and possibly manage the finances better, so that you don't have to return Ā£150M through incompetence.

That 150 million wasnā€™t allocated for the Welsh NHS so thatā€™s irrelevant. Do you think the problems in the Welsh NHS can be fixed with Ā£150 million pounds?

Other funds allocated for the Welsh NHS have been spent elsewhere. There was no excuse for the poor administration resulting in the return of Ā£150M, I would never dismis this sum of money from the Welsh budget.

It seems momentum is gathering as the anti Senedd petition is touching 20,000. Nearly 6 months to hit the 100,000 required for Westminster to consider a fresh vote.

So literally yesterday when we were discussing the 30 billion pissed up the wall by truss you downplayed it by saying ā€œyou can't change the past only the future.ā€ Now today when we are discussing an amount of money 200 times smaller you would never dismiss that money. I hope youā€™re not an accountant.

Thereā€™s no petition on Earth that requires Westminster to have another vote on devolution. My word, itā€™s no wonder you abolitionists are so bad and keep losing.

Why is it you Welshnats keepindulging in whataboutery? We are discussing the Welsh government and what they do but your best excuse is always ah but WHATABOUT Westminster.

PS he never said the 150 million was NHS money but Draleford has robbed the NHS budget and spent it elsewhere. 150 million won't fix the NHS but it would do a lot of good, I hope nobody you know ever gets cancer because treatment times are getting worse, they could do with some extra resources.

Iā€™m not and never have been a Welsh nationalist. Iā€™m asking one specific poster why they hold wildly different standards on public finance depending on whoā€™s in charge. Thatā€™s not whataboutism. Thatā€™s fundamentally how you hold a discussion in good faith.

Thatā€™s a pretty awful thing to say to someone you donā€™t know who could be going through anything. As it stands a parent of mine is going through the first stages of their diagnosis so have been back and forth to Maggies in Singleton a bit this month. Thankfully the staff there are amazing and much more considerate than yourself.

It has been explained to you that thread is about the Senedd, Westminster only comes into it because when the petition reaches 100,000 they will discuss it.

Yeah, you need to read it again because ( not for the first time ) you have failed to comprehend what was said. I said I hope NOBODY you know ever gets cancer, if you think that's awful then you need to think again.

As it goes I understand quite a bit about what cancer sufferers go though seeing as my sister had cancer and suffered through it for over a year, we had her funeral last week. My sister had been a specialist oncology nurse too.

If you're going to pontificate it might be better to ensure you understand what's been said before spouting.

Why should Wales be ruled by Englands dreadful Torysā€¦?

That would be akin to Russia making decisions for Ukraine.

So who do we vote for, keep this utterly useless Labour party at the helm and the decline in Wales continues and we can all see just how bad for the country the Tories are so what do we do.

So sorry to hear about your parent but as I'm sure we all know Maggie's is a self funding charity so not sure what your point is ?

Absolutely, but what really annoys me are the accounting rules governments have when it comes to the end of year. If money isnā€™t spent it has to be returned, why not let the department or organisation keep the money to invest in improving services in subsequent years. Iā€™ve seen ā€œwastedā€ just so that it doesnā€™t have to be returned.

Only they did not the Ā£30 billion was a figment of the SNP who mentioned it in Parliament without any evidence. Labour then repeat the myth/lie and idiots think it is fact without checking it.

Furthermore if you run a government or government funded department and don't spend all your budget in a financial year it is cut the following year. Resulting in waste sometimes just to spend the budget. How many reps come calling in January-March asking how much do you need to spend, we can deliver in 6 months if you like. Yes I have seen it with my own eyes.

A few years ago Westminster (effectively the English government regarding the NHS) decided that when more cuts were going to be made they would protect the NHS budget while cutting back on all other departments.

The Welsh government decided that they would instead try to protect both the NHS and Social Care budget while cutting other budgets. This effectively meant a cut in the NHS budget.

Whether that decision produced a better outcome than just protecting the NHS budget I don't know but, to me, it was a reasonable position to take because if Social care outcomes are better then that helps the NHS.

Whether money from the NHS budget was spent elsewhere other than Social care I can't argue also because I don't know.

You're going to have to explain something to me, this bit...

The Welsh government decided that they would instead try to protect both the NHS and Social Care budget while cutting other budgets. This effectively meant a cut in the NHS budget.

How is protecting the budget effectively cutting it? Maybe I'm not bright enough to understand but protecting it sounds effectively like making sure it's not cut.

Maybe if you explain it to me properly I can understnd?

You're right. I can see it could have been done two ways.

Just making some numbers up. If all budgets were needed to be cut by say 5% Westminster decided that they wouldn't cut the English NHS budget so their 5% savings had to be shared by all the other depts.

The Senedd decided to try to protect both the Welsh NHS and also Social care budgets. I'm not certain but they may have just maintained them both and let the other budgets pick up the slack from both.

On the other hand, the way I imagined they had done it is that they may have reduced the NHS budget by say 2.5% and the Social care budget also by 2.5%. So a reduction (a cut) but less than it could have been. And with the Social care budget also protected to a similar extent the better outcomes there would also benefit the NHS.

I know what i'm trying to say but I don't know if it'll make sense to anyone else.

That was really painful trying to put into words but not nearly as painful as spending two hours down the Liberty this afternoon

Drakeford admitted spending NHS money on education, its not really protecting it.

I agree about the football. It was the worst 3 nil I have ever seen.

The ending of the Welsh Assembly would certainly have no detrimental effect on South West Wales and would probably even improve the situation.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

I would certainly expect to get from Bristol to Swansea quicker down the M4 resulting in more investment. But probably not in my lifetime.
