Don’t mention Gyökeres on 11:33 - Oct 26 by ReslovenSwan1 | It is discussed because it will happen again.and again. The Swansea academy CoE have never produced a local no 9 . The best is Cullen over 30 years and he cannot do the basics after 15 years of schooling. Iwan Morgan decided London was a better place for him develop. Kristian Fletcher the DC guy scored 17 goal is double quick time and was not given a contract. You will find no warm words from him anywhere. Swansea fans shrug their shoulders and say "it happens". I cannot happen when you consider the paucity of local players. The fact is Levien has offered to buy Gyorkeres for around £1m for Cooper and he was not interested in the player. I put it to you he was not interested in the long term health of the club. Now Swansea are wallowing mid table with a slew of prospects who all need time to gel. Next season will be better. I have a suspicion Swansea city do not know what a top centre forward looks like. When the next Aln Shearer is struggling at the club the experience staff need to sign him up. Is it a fact that Levein offered to buy him for £1m? I don’t think it’s a big secret that Cooper was only interested in short term success. He was trying to get us promoted with a squad stuffed full of high quality loan players.

I believe he was on loan with an option to buy. Coventry took over the same deal. Coventry bought him for a few of around £1m which proves Brighton were open for selling. Cooper was no good for Swansea. Zero legacy. He declined to fulfill his contract when all the quick fixes were played.

I could understand your point if he was our player & we let him go but he never was. As I said its gone now, that was 4 years ago & I'm far more concerned about our current position.

So it’s not fact at all then. Just assumption on your part. I don’t think many people will disagree with your assessment of Cooper. He was brought in to get us back up to the PL quickly. I don’t think he had much of an eye on the longer term.

Swansea city is a private business that does not present this sort of contractual information. Andy aScot the club recruitment man found him. Levien employed Scott. I was written that Brighton were open to a sale. Coventry took over his loan and completed the sale. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence to suggest Swansea could have bought him for pennies after " youth expert" Cooper has studied him for three months. Swansea now have no choice but develop Vipotnik. If I was Coleman I would not sanction a new striker. Williams has enough in his squad out on loan and in the academy

I cannot understand why Kristian Fletcher is playing for Nottingham Forest u21 not Swansea u21 pushing for a first team place. He was not shown any encouragement.. [Post edited 2 Nov 19:28]

Your CoE comments, ok they are right however, Fletcher wasn't our player and he was never going to be allowed to stay. In fact at the first sign the manager was going to play him, the owners stepped in didn't they? He was shipped back to DC. He's gone to an EPL club and will be on more money in their U21 set up than if he was our first team player. Gyorkeres, never our player. If he was available for 1 million it's entirely irrelevant because Cooper didn't want him, didn't use him much and he was recalled. At the time we had loan players here who Cooper had most likely promised to play as long as they were avaialble, these clauses do get put in by the lonee clubs. Gyorkeres got little chance so they recalled him. That successive managers have made clear and obvious mistakes is one thing BUT when a decent player comes here on loan we can expect that the current owners will not shell out to buy them or pay the wages they want. The cost cutting exercise goes on. If the next Alan Shearer is out there and is clearly as good a player, we have little chance of getting him here and the fee will be more than we will pay, there will never be a cheap option for a highly rated British youngster. Even average British youngsters are expensive these days.

Once fans start blaming the owners for everything they cannot stop. It give the local people a chance to be lazy knowing they will not be blamed for anything. A complete absence of good forward players demonstrates someone is not doing their job. Gyorkeres was never Coventry's player until they signed him. Had Cooper made a strong case for signing him they would have made a move. Fletcher was on trial and despite 17 goals was deemed not to have done enough. Levien would prefer him to sign for Swansea rather than Forest. Swansea have a very poor record finding forwards. Cooper wanted the injury prone Keinan Davis according to the press. He complained he had no centre forward despite having Gyorkeres. You will defend him for this moaning. He had a rough diamond in his kit bag and threw it away. It was Cooper's fault not Levien's but fans cannot see this through the mist of failed narratives. Whittaker another excellent goal scorer treated badly and kicked out of the club for peanuts. Liam Cullen is the only show in town. The next Alan Shearer will not be obvious a late developer. Swansea football people need to see potential not be lazy. You see in Facebook comments . When Swansea sign a good player " more money for the greedy Yanks to pocket". Id f people in the club think like this the club is doomed to fail. The next Shearer will be told. "Move on son you are too good for us". This is what you might say if you worked for the club. Gude I works on the "club culture". This must mean there was a perceived problem before he came. Interesting article about Gyorkeres in the MoS It talks of how the ball seemed to bounce off hin duebto his inability to be able to control it ir yhat hisnpaases always went to an oppenent,it even quotes an unamed team mate. So it seems there were questuins over his skills.....worth a read it is interesting.... Its nit the first time a gem has been missed ...we opted against a younger Jamie Vardy....we gave away Dean Suanders

gosh. I had forgotten that Jenkins in 2012 failed to sign Vardy. He was on offer for £800k. Just reading the online reports at the time.

When Giorgio wasn't on the pull, he spent a lot of time in the autumn/winter evenings, sitting in The Mountain Dew pub, nursing half a pint or a cuppa - because he couldn't afford to put money in his flat meter for lighting and heating!!

Swansea have a blind spot for strikers. I will not write off Mykola Kuhareveych in the basis of club insiders not rating him for whatever reason. Cullen is the best ever product from the CoE or academy and cannot head the ball as well as Harry Wilson who has clearly worked on his game in the last 2-3 years. Kristian Fletcher was a revelation at u21 level scoring for fun. You will not find a good word from Mr Wright or anyone for him perhaps because he was from Levien's team DC United. If so a few P45s are in order. Coleman should be asking the academy where are the local strikers.
