Did you not see the idiots fighting in the ground which spilled outside. Police been calling for reinforcements. Some incident with a car outside the main entrance too. Embarrassing

Some of their supporters goading our intoxicated youths a recipe for disaster. Totally embarrassing.

Was it worse than what we saw on the pitch?

Those fans who wanted to move to the Pearl Street have now ensured that won’t be happening. The club will have footage of all involved on the pitch.

I dont think their supporters rightly supporting a win against the odds can be claimed as goading. The idiots in the Dale side who thought that was an invitation to invade the pitch and punch completely oblivious celebratory supporters at will are the ones to blame. I see these muppets at every game, as do the police as they often have to escort them in and out. The same group that the police rightly herded against the gable end of a house after the Oldham game. If the club know, the police know and we know who they are and what their purpose for attending is, why are they still allowed in?

I don't know whether the Pearl Street turnstile fiasco affected the count, but there weren't 4500 empty seats today. What is clear is that we are no longer able to manage 5,000+ in the stadium safely. The new Head of Operations was called to see the ref on the pitch at the final whistle before the penalty shoot out. Dozens and dozens of our youth were pulling up the seat covering from the end block of Pearl Street so they could get to the away fans long before the final whistle. And the Sandy throwing bottles at their keeper. And watching police having to use batons on our own fans. Kids were terrified outside after the game. The ref is a league ref and knows the score. Wouldn't surprise me if we get fined. That behaviour today was shocking.

There is zero chance of that end block being available for people to move from the Sandy next season now.

On the scanning thing, it remains a farce that each turnstile doesn’t have an operator on days like today. If the scanners don’t work they can check tickets manually to at least maintain the flow of people.

Might not be a ad thing. Another wake up call.
If people want to cause trouble like back in the 70's we should be able to deal with it.
My experience of stewarding in more recent years is p*ss poor.

Far more than the football on display or the result, this is the sort of thing that will dissuade potential new supporters, particularly those with kids, from returning.

Dispiriting.

Isn't it just. Dad's with kids outside the ground wete shocked. They won't be rushing back. Spennymoor get 1100 at home and it is unsegregated. They will have been shocked too.

The club needs to issue an apology and share what they plan to do to fix the problem

I’ve consistently backed the yoof over the last couple of seasons once the early issues were ironed out. Many of them remind me of when I started watching in the 1960s without an accompanying adult.
However, yesterday was an accident waiting to happen. I’m not sure what the attraction of the Pearl St is for them.
There is also an unruly element that tends to turn up for the bigger games eg the toilet seat incident at Halifax.
There is also still the chance that Dale may have to go to Boundary Park or the Shay in the playoffs so the problem needs addressing.

I walked through the feeble Police line down Willbutts Lane and said to a big lad who was about 19 or 20 who was trying goad the Police 'It's Spennymoor this, do you not think that's it's embarrassing?' I then crossed Sandy Lane to continue to walk up Willbutts Lanes and there were families stood there watching what was going on.

The whole day really couldn't have gone any worse.
